3.0 out of 5 stars Who made up the title of this book???
I heard about the simple cancer remedy of cottage cheese and flaxseed oil of Budwig so when I got the chance to read what she herself wrote, I immediately got to read this book.

First thing that struck me was, why this title? Is it some marketing for flaxseed oil? I find it strange because getting to the principle of Budwig's recommendations in this book,...

After reaching late middle-age, I began to see a deterioration in the general health of myself and my friends. Knowing our forebearers reached old age in reasonably good health, I started reading everything from medical reports to junk mail in an attempt to understand what is different in this day from the past. One of the most revealing, and believable, reports I read is a book that is not really a book. It is "Flax Oil as a True Aid Against Arthritis, Heart Infarction, Cancer and Other Diseases" by Dr. Johanna Budwig. The book was not written as a book, but is the actual report she gave as a Nobel Prize winning researcher to her fellows in the medical field. The facts she presented made complete sense, but did not list how the reader could utilize the information. Hence, I ordered her book, "The Oil-Protein Diet Cookbook". In it, she explains how the reader can put her theories of introducing flax oil to the diet in very interesting ways. She has included over 500 simple recipes with which one can incorporate the beneficial flax oil into one's lifestyle. The most helpful part is the recipes for a basic cream to replace the vegetable fat usually spread on our breads and melted over our veggies, and a very simple granola-type cereal one can use in many ways. With these two items, the diet we are used to can easily be replaced with one that may be able to "fix" what is broken in our bodies. She claims the faithful can completely cure such things as cancer, heart problems, and even diabetes. In talking to folks older even than me, some fondly remember having their mothers make them ingest flax seeds in one form or another. Dr. Budwig claims flax seed products cannot possibly hurt, even if taken in large amounts. I am listening to her and have begun to change my ways to hers. She must know something, as she is well into her 90's and still active!

5.0 out of 5 stars Flax Oil As a True Aid Against Arthritis Heart Infrraction Cancer and Other Diseases, August 19, 2005
This review is from: Flax Oil As a True Aid Against Arthritis Heart Infarction Cancer and Other Diseases (3rd Edition) (Paperback)
I am not a writer or a reviewer, but I am a cancer victim. This book is a series of lectures delivered to her peers over a long career. It's ironic that while most of them are busy peddling other expensive treatments to their patients, they themselves were taking their family members to see Dr. Budwig and follow her advice. 2 of my brothers also have cancer. They are using conventional treatments and taking prescribed medications. They are both overweight and not so agile anymore as we are all retired. They both rejected my offers to let them read my books. I on the other hand while being the 2nd oldest at 70 am agile, my weight is same as when I graduated from high school and cancer is shrinking and leaving my body. I excercise daily and can nearly lift my own body weight. My high blood pressure has gone from nearly 240/115 down to in the 145/85 range in about 6 weeks since reading this book and starting the diet, while giving up all other medications. Basically I have gone from a meat eater to a vegetarian and avoid sugar entirely. I eat her spread in the morning and with 2 other meals daily and now feel superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dietary Cancer cure, July 25, 2006

I'm not a doctor nor a scientist, but I've been studying optimal health and wellness for over 5 years now. Most people seem to have this notion that only medical doctors know what's best for our bodies, but from my research, I beg to differ.
I've always been a strong proponent for good nutrition, and Dr Budwig's book seems to be right on point. As she says don't let the simplicity fool you.
I'm not going to get into the argument that some reviewers are getting into about the scientific explaination for static electricity, and electrons and all of that, because unless you have an advanced degree in electrical engineering, I think most people are talking waaaay over their respective heads. Lets just keep it simple. From my studies I do know a couple of things: We alll need the basic food groups to survive and they are, fats (or lipids) proteins, and carbohydrates. So, in keeping with Dr. Budwig's observations, if we can get the most absorbable and usable form of those three, it makes complete sense to me that it should improve one's health.
It appears that Flax oil contains a highly absorbable amount of Omega 3's, (essential fatty acids) which are sorely missing from our American diets. It also appears that cottage cheese, (or yogurt) contains some of the most absorbable forms of protein. But, according to Dr Budwig, it's when the two are combined that really makes a difference, because the protein makes the fats in the oil water soluble, which means that they are broken down into a form that is absorbable by the body.
I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to comprehend that.
I thought this book was a wonderful quick read that makes perfect scientific sense. I'm always a little leary of people that are trying to push one product or another, along with their supposed ground-breaking health discoveries. But this proposed addition to ouir diets is very inexpensive, easy and all-natural. For some reason I find it much easier to believe a seven-time Nobel Prize nominee, and one of the most respected researchers in Europe who's not pushing some product or supplement, than some reviewer who tries to discount her theories but doesn't even leave his name.

This book is well written in laymen terms to inform the person who has a threat of cancer of the simple treatment which has a sure cure. It is sad that the medical society has withheld this type natural healing process from the populace. Ms. Budwig very clearly explains the cause and the cure for cancer. It makes so much sense that even though I do not have cancer, I have begun taking the preventive measures which include the use of Flax oil and cottage cheese. I am certaily glad that I read this book. I will buy several for my friends who may suffer from cancer. This is a must reading for everyone. The diet change recommended in this book may have a broad range of benefits for us and our children. Every home library needs to have a copy of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who would have thought of Flax., July 31, 2000
This review is from: Flax Oil As a True Aid Against Arthritis Heart Infarction Cancer and Other Diseases (3rd Edition) (Paperback)
Where has this information been hiding for so long? Or more like it, why haven't I taken the time to learn of it. DR. Budwig has done a superb job of detailing the vital importance this "super food" plays in our health. It is a very important key in our heart health. Whether it is in the form of the oil or the powder, or the "lingen rich" fiber. One additional thing I have learned from a site called PapaNature is the benefit of blending of flax oil and Omega 3. PapaNature reinforces Budwig's explanations on the importance of flax in our health. It also offers a choice of products and versions of flax.

I have not read this book, I came to this site to order any books I can find on the Budwig protocol. My chiropractor has been ranting about this stuff for years so I finally bought some flaxoil and cottage cheese and started mixing it up and eating it each day. I don't have cancer but I figure this could help me in general. I felt no different at all. When I told my doc he said, did you buy a handheld mixer like I told you? I said no, I just stir it up. He said, forget it if you are not going to do it right. So I got a handheld mixer. Whoa! You cannot imagine the feeling of well-being I have. I sleep like a log, wake up refreshed, my nerves are much better at the end of my business day, I have lost weight, my beard, which has always been thin, is now growing out thicker! I don't know where this is all leading me but I want to learn more about the Budwig diet. I am ordering anything I can about this.

Dr Budwig's research on fats put into practice on myself and even my dog have proven her claims.

I followed her instructions to the letter. My doctor's word's on my last blood test: "I don't know what you are doing, but keep doing it, your liver function, lipids, cholesterol look great! "Your Immune system is strong".

My 14 year old Black lab was on his way for the nite-nite shot so I started giving him the cottage cheese and oil about a month ago. He has not swam in our pool for over a year and we used to not be able to keep him out when he was younger.
He went in just the other day. He has had a subcutaneous tumor on his shoulder for 2 years. It's shrinking! His cataracts look more clear! His activity level has doubled.

Read the book buy it for friends and LIVE HEALTHY GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!

Great book. Highly recommended.

She is a little subjective and bounces around from topic to topic, But I fully understand the concept and plan to implement it immediately.

It really opens your eyes to discover that cancer is primarily caused by lack of oxygen due to electron-dead, insulating (non-conductive) saturated, fats and oils.

What a disaster man has created by destroying his "food" and re-assembling it the way he thinks it should be and mass distributing it.

I am glad I read this book.

Dr. Johanna Budwig's book is a must read for anyone contemplating the realities of cause and effect and disease in the human body. This woman unlocked the secret to health and longevity over fifty years ago, and the medical community and the drug companies have kept the knowledge from us to secure their profits.

The book is translated from her native German and therefore, a bit challenging to read in context of language. But an excellent compilation of several of her speeches through the years.

Buy the book, read it, make the change and live.
