George Dmitrov's Against Fascism and War should be required reading for anyone who wants to join the effort to end fascism in America. It is a detailed analysis of the problems facing those who are trying to organize international resistance to the rise of global fascism. Though written in 1936, the ideas in the book are as relevant today as when worldwide fascism threatened to become the norm just before the outbreak of WWII.

Americans should find the book particularly interesting, given the fact that corporate domination of their government meets Mussolini's definition of a fascist state. However, as Dmitrov points out in this stunningly prescient book, defeating fascism in one country is best accomplished by helping other nations struggle to establish democratic governments at the same time.

The only means to fulfill the dream of ending fascism in the world is to eliminate it in America and we need to look to other nations for examples and support, as Egypt learned from Tunisia's experience in planning and carrying out their peaceful, democratic revolution. Dmitrov details the importance of working with disparate groups united by the common purpose of ending fascism and war by cooperation between unlikely allies such as unions, small business owner, Communists and those of all political parties working for democracy in their nations.
