And it's oh-so-pretty, too! The only reason I can imagine this bouncy pop-rock was kept off the air would be that it was deemed TOO catchy. Bummer of a band name--it doesn't make them seem the type that would play mod light fixtures on their album cover. The gender alternation on lead vocals works surprisingly well. It's enough fun to be hip & indie, but commercial enough to hold together for the full 45. "Discopolis" really cooks.

I enjoyed the Dambuilders earlier work, Ruby Red, but managed to miss the release of Against The Stars.

Several years later, my brother bought me a copy. When I got around to listening to it, I was blown away. It's a mystery to me how this album didn't help further the Dambuilders inertia in the indie-music scene.

Songs such as Herstory and I Was Wrong are just incredible - the composition and execution are top-notch, but the emotion in the songs is what really gets to me. I'm not sure why this wasn't a bigger success -- lack of marketing? Poor timing? Who knows, but regardless, this album is really wonderful to listen to.

If you are a fan of 90s indie music, this is a must-have. Words can't describe how much I still enjoy this album.

Great summertime disc. If you think of all the crappy music you've bot over the years, the $15.00 wasted over & over, this one wont fall into that category. Cool & quirky late 90's music. They were hurt by 2 issues: too good musically and lyrics not sad enough. In the 90's happy & crafting a good song was not cool. So, it's safe now, it's 2005. The next time your cookin out yard party style, this one will be perfect!

This one was lost in the media mess out there .... would have been a classic. Different and fresh. Enjoy.

this cd is great. however, i was recently in new york at the jeff buckley birthday tribute and joan wassers new band BLACK BEETLE played- AMAZING. all record companies should adhere to their solicitation and all music lovers should be on the look out. Black Beetle is coming to take over the world
