Save your money--this book reeks!,

After reading the other reviews for this book, I thought I'd give the book a try, but boy! what a dud!!! After having read the book, and then re-read the reviews posted here, one really has to wonder if the author isn't writing his own reviews here on Amazon in an effort to boost sales of his book.....Poorly written and VERY amateurish--no wonder the author had to pay the publisher to get this drivel published!! Save your money and choose a quality book from the Amazon site, not this rubbish penned by Eden.....

Definitely one of the worst books I've ever read! I've been trying to dump it on eBay but nobody wants it. Don't believe the good reviews--this book is a joke!

This book is quite possibly the worst I've ever reviewed--poorly written, extremely limited vocabulary, dull, predictable storylines--this guy makes the writers for the Enquirer look like Pulitzer prize winners!!! What more can I say except to avoid this book (and any others that "author" Eden may get to press) like the plague!

.....don't waste your time or money!! Poorly written and extremely amateurish, this book should never have made it into print. From the author's limited vocabulary to the trite storylines, this book reeks from start to finish.

Simply put, this is the worst book I've ever read!! Very amateurish and poorly written, I kept looking for the line "it was a dark and stormy night...." After reading the book, it would appear that the author has lived his life by moulding shreds of truth and mountains of fiction in an attempt to fabricate an existence for himself that hides his impovershed upbringing and current status as a washed-up B movie actor desperate for the limelight. The chapters on his sailing experiences were trite, cliche, and frankly unbelievable--and the rest of the book is little more than yet another "hollywood tell-all" book by someone obviously frustrated and bitter by a failed acting career. While Eden may be a legend in his own mind, by his own admission you can't believe a word he says. Do yourself a favor and avoid this ...

Being a fan of the films of Herschell Gordon Lewis, I was interested in reading about the life of one of his actors, Jerome (Jerry) Eden. What a mistake. This book is written in such a way that it is hard to believe that any of it happened. One minute he's barely in Hollywood, then he lies to Troy Donahue to worm his way into the high life (then is disturbed when Troy almost calls him on it), then somehow is "above" all the "syncophants" hanging around Troy. Don't even get me started on the casual homophobia Mr. Eden displays when writing about the same party and with another man he encounters later in the book. Ughh. And then there's the racism. Even worse. In short progression, he stumbles across nearly every star who ever lived and was privy to their most intimate secrets. If he wasn't hanging around with stars, he was being offered high powered positions in companies by people he just met (jobs, btw, he never seems to keep for too long). And, seriously, when you just make stuff up, like having THE LEAD in 2,000 Maniacs (which the author was not even close to being), it's hard to believe anything. If one is going just make things up about the small things, why believe the absolute whoppers? All this might be easier to take if the book wasn't such an annoying read. For some reason all names are printed in a darker highlighted print than everything else or words are italicized for no discernable reason. In the opening chapter the word "black" is italicized every time it appears when used to describe the storm or the clouds or the water that the author finds himself in. Save your money or take it with a grain of salt.

following such good ones. It made me buy the book. I think the last reviewers must be in the book! People who rant and rave about the endeavors of others must be lacking in their own creativity. Or, they are not old enough to relate to the material. I found "Against the Wind" engrossing, and although it wasn't a Pultzer material, it did have enough moments to make me smile and remember those good 'old' Hollywood days. I liked Mr. Eden's second offering also.Mary

Not often I am totally engrossed with the book...,

Kept me awake all night and I found the read, easy and written in a conversational way. Mr Eden had experiences that would put most of us in a mental hospital. His honesty was refreshing considering the source of his material. Why they haven't picked this up as a "Movie of the Week" in beyond me.

The Globe's Review of Jerry Eden's "Against the Wind",
By The Globe (Lantana, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Against The Wind (Paperback)
The King of Rock 'n' Roll and The Chairman of the Board shared more than celebrity. They also shared a passion for 'kinky' sex and wild orgies according to this blockbuster book. Author Jerry Eden tells the GLOBE he was "shocked beyond words" by Frank Sinatra's lusty sex soirees with "hookers" and watching Elvis strip down to his blue suede shoes as he made love to a gorgeous gal behind a two-way mirror in his Bel Air home. Thats only a snippet of what awaits readers in this tell-all book. I loved it. Bob Michaels - The Globe - Lanatana, Florida
