I just read a bunch of reviews on this camera.

A majority of them:

- Are written by someone who has only positively reviewed Agasio / Foscam products.
- This person writes a fake review for another item to hide this fact. These fake reviews are a copy/paste of a real editorial review of the product. Copying a sentence from the review into google will show it is not unique.
- Talk about someone like Harry at tech support in glowing terms and give a 5 star review.

Why am I writing a negative review?

Any product that has to hire fake reviewers:

1. Has a skewed rating that needs to be corrected.
2. Is a huge red flag that other things are wrong with the product.

If a company is willing to cheat this badly is not a company whose product you should install on your network.

Software was generic and got the job done. Was only 15 megs to install/configure the camera.

Like with any webcam, you could NAT into your local area network, control this cam with ease etc. I could even control it over a smart phone. The user interface to control etc, was split into 4 options. IE/Google Chrome and MAC/Firefox/Smartphone.

Firmware -- What fireware. Even the website didn't offer any updates.

I plugged this into a Cisco 3650 PoE switch as I have been preparing for my 'NA and I seriously want to say it burned the unit out.

After about 6 months of use I'd say this started to act up. 1 yr into it, boat ancor. It's too bad because it's hard to find something decent without dropping $300+ and this did perform pretty good in the begining for what I was using it for (nursery cam).

The camera will reset after a few hours, and the IR feature will require user to set to "on" Or, the audio will stop after 4-5 hours of operation, and require the user to reset the camera. Additionally, the web interface for internet explorer is not good and the configuration features don't grey on or off properly, and the user doesn't know if audio is working or not, unless someone goes the place where the camera sits, and talks into the camera. Basically, Agasio HAS NOT tested this product well, and just pushed it out the door with little regard to reliability. This camera is NOT suitable for a child monitor. I have not checked their website for firmware updates yet, but their own literature sent with the camera discourages firmware upgrades and says it could damage the camera.... Don't waste your money.

This is for a FOSCAM FI8910W

The reason their reviews are so high is because their technical support, when helping you get your camera working (it's complicated in some scenarios), they take over your screen and at the end of the call they pressure you into writing a review. They take you straight to Amazon, tell you to log in, then pressure you to give them high marks. Kind of lame if you ask me.

The technical support service wasn't that good in my opinion. I waited on hold for 25.5 minutes just for someone to take my numbers so a technical support rep could call me back. Why in the world couldn't we have done tat at the beginning? The rep was very hard to understand, and ever slightly abrasive. She eventually did get my camera working, but after about an hour it stopped allowing me to access it remotely from outside my local network. I imagine this is because I have a dynamic IP address, and she did not set it up that way. Now I have to call again today and go through this whole process again.... Lovely.

I would say this has the potential for being a good product, but you have to be quite technically versed in networking. I normally would consider myself above average in this area, but the software and instructions are not very intuitive (because they look like a rough translation from another language). There is no way to really know how it will work for you ahead of time. My dad bought one, and it was an easy setup for him with his equipment configuration. Mine on the other hand was not as easy for some reason and our home configuration isn't all that different.

Had this camera for just over a year before it stopped working a couple of weeks ago... No video feed, unable to connect/ping the manually assigned IP address (also on the off chance it reset to defaults or somehow the IP address got changed, it doesn't show up in the IP camera tool listing). So it's out of warranty now, and I'm not going to replace it with another Agasio product, I expect more than a year's use.

Up to that point I did not have any problem with it, it worked fine, though the picture quality wasn't all that great, but passable. I installed it in a dome (7" Outdoor Dome Encloser for Loftek Foscam Wansview Apexis Cctv Surveillance Security Wireless Ip Camera) and it worked well, turned off the IR LED's and used a couple of external IR LED sources, also purchased via Amazon, due to the glare on the inside of the dome. The IR cut filter operated automatically even with the internal LED's off.

Product did not work out of the box, I had to send it back to the company in order to get a new camera that would work out of the box. Woot sells this brand on their website all the time because they can't seem to get rid of it here on Amazon ever since Amazon bought out woot. I have gone through the reviews for this camera and it appears to have been spammed with fake reviews because really the only 5 star reviews are saying the same thing but just moving some words around. I consider this to be extremely unethical of the company. I only wish that they would but as much time into development and quality of the product as they have in creating fake reviews.
