Pretty pieces but are impractical as coasters,

This review is from: Agate Coasters (Set of 4)
The agate is not water absorbing, therefore they are not practical to use as coasters. However, they are beautiful pieces of nature to have in your home. These coasters should also come with a holder, but they do not. I had to purchase a separate holder from a home store to make it complete.

Too small, among other things,

Thought these were a really unusual and gorgeous way of keeping things from being set directly on my glass coffee table. Wrong! Here are my issues with them:1) They do not absorb liquid, so if something wet is placed on them the liquid is going to simply roll off the agate and onto the coffee table. Example: a typical cup from a fast food joint when the ice melts and condenses on the outside of the cup. That made its way to my coffee table pretty quick. 2) They are too small. I wouldn't put anything bigger on them than a shot glass or a wine glass. Yes, they can handle a pint glass (or equivalent) but that's cutting it pretty close. 3) No rubber feet at the bottom to protect a glass coffee table, which I assume many people have. Basically you're putting an item with a glassy surface directly on glass. No good! That is asking for scratches. Oh well. Nice idea but poorly executed.

Beautiful, elegant coasters which I use in my office. They are not huge but fine for the average mug/starbucks cup/thermos/glass/etc. I received a blue, green, purple and cream and each is a sightly different size and shape. I don't think I need rubber feet as they are not sliding on stone or wood (but that's easy enough to fix with a dollar and a trip to a crafts or hardware store).
