I got this product yesterday and was SO HAPPY to be able to play one of the movies last night. I was FINALLY able to play the movie that I have wanted to play for a long time now. From the Agatha Christie's Miss Marple (Collection 1 - 1975 - that I previously bought) I played the movie "A Caribbean Mystery". In that particular set, there WAS editing of this movie and I was quite put out about that so I got rid of it. I KNEW that it had been edited because I had the VHS version of it that was played on VISION a long time ago and knew that it had NOT been edited at that time AND that the cable system in those days didn't force you to watch as many commercials as they force you to do these days (GRRRRRRRR)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, now that I have a 'multi-region' DVD player I can play ANY KIND of DVD regardless of whether I buy it from Amazon in the .UK/.US or here in .CA. When I played the movie last night (A Caribben Mystery) I was able to finally sit back and relax to this mystery -- and guess what???? THERE WAS NO EDITS IN THIS MOVIE!!!!!!! I saw the WHOLE movie and was able to just really enjoy another great Agatha Christie movie without having the issue of the "edits" that were made in the previous set that I bought. What really turns me off of watching any movie these days on our cable system is when I can tell that the movie HAS been "edited" OR the way we get totally inundated by commercials!!!! To watch ANY movie these days on cable, the only way you CAN enjoy it is to record it first, then watch it!!!! (This set also has closed captioning available for those who use it).

5.0 out of 5 stars Twelve pearls of beauty February 12, 2011
Body In the Library. A simple story about a rich old man who is going to adopt a dancer to give her his money or at least a good part of it against the will of his children, or in-laws, but Miss Marple is a lot trickier than that and the criminal is someone who wants to put their hands on that money by marrying one of the two official heirs, though the heirs don't seem to really care for the "caprice" of the old man.

Moving Finger. A PP story, PP for poisoned pen, anonymous slander letters, in a small community, it is always revealing on many people's characters and generally it is the smoke that hides the fire, in that case a feminine smoke to hide a masculine murderer. And all that fire was all about love, love for a young beautiful Scandinavian blonde from an older wealthy and respectable man and father of two children.

A Murder Is Announced. Never believe an old lady who seems inoffensive and brittle if not endangered. The nicest and fairest mug can hide the worst and sneakiest criminal. But not in the eyes of Miss Marple because she sees with her brain and not with her sole eyes or sole heart. The story is fairly crooked enough to hold you till the end.

A Pocketful Of Rye. In this story Agatha Christie is stepping in Conan Doyle's footsteps with a mystery that revolves around some colonial strife, or rivalry and vengeance. But at the same time she keeps her naiveté and her nursery simplicity with a whole murder case based on a nursery rhyme, a common and popular nursery rhyme: the repetitiveness becomes the key to the series of murders.

The Murder At The Vicarage. This is a quasi perfect murder that turns sour because of completely secondary moralistic considerations that should never have come up in the minds of two criminals.
