A great mystery game with a few minor problems...,

Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None" is one of the greatest mystery classics of all time. This being so, it would be especially hard for anyone to recreate a computer game on a classic. However, this game actually does a pretty good job of it.
The background graphics are well done, especially inside the house. The character graphics are a little ridiculous-looking, but one gets used to them as one plays. The voice acting is really well done; with Patrick Narracot, Emily Brent, and Judge Wargrave the best of the pack. Overall, this game was really fun to play. It didn't cause a lot of frustration, but it wasn't too easy, either. Some puzzles didn't seem to make sense, and I had to refer to a walkthrough maybe twice, just because the solutions don't seem like something you would actually do in real life to solve that problem. The dialogue was all first-rate, with much of it being recognizable from the book. I am one of those people who, even though it means that the end of the game would be spoiled, insists upon having the unchanged original ending of the mystery; and when it comes to the legendary Dame Agatha Christie, it's a must. The fake ending that ends the game is contrived, stupid, and almost impossible to follow. I was outraged when I saw this, but, thankfully, there is a bonus section at the end of the game where you solve one more puzzle. Then you get to see the REAL ending, exactly as Agatha Christie planned it-- both plot-twisting and clever, along with the *gasp* factor. If you are like me and love mysteries and mystery games, this game is a must, especially for fans of the Nancy Drew computer game series (like me). But if you don't like a lot of dialogue and long gameplay hours, then it's not for you.

I found this game to be a lot of fun. The play was smooth and the controls were easy. It was very addictive to follow the characters and see who gets "bumped" next.
As with most pc mystery games, you will need a walkthrough cheat as some parts are impossible to figure out. Also, following the paths around the island takes much time to understand. (A "quick jump" option would have been nice as going from one end of the island to one of the bedrooms in the house is time consuming.) I highly recommend this game to the mystery/adventure lover, also the game takes several hours to complete so you get your money's worth.

I love interactive games. Before I played "And Then There Were None," I had just finished playing "the Black Mirror." I was very disappointed in how that finally turned out. So, I needed something to take my attention away from that.
My comments can be reduced to the following: 1. Overall, I had a lot of fun with this game. It kept me going. There are some scarey scenes, which is fine with me. It was entertaining keeping track of who was gone and who was still with us. 2. I liked the protagonist. Since I knew he was not going to be killed, I opted to try to save his love interest, Vera. 3. Loved the various endings. 4. Liked some of the side trip activities, i.e. making apple cider and apple juice from apples in the orchard. 5. One criticism: I sometimes inadvertently didn't pick something up some inventory. What happened was, I didn't have the means to do some activities. They weren't vital, but when accomplished, something did come of it. 6. I strongly reccomend that you go to a walkthrough site to get maps and diagrams of the mansion the surrounding land. Otherwise you walk around (or you can run) without accomplishing anything because you can't find your site. I made notes to myself on where to find certain bedrooms easily. If you're looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon or if you have insomnia and want stay up scaring yourself a little bit, I say play this game.

As another reviewer said, it IS very addictive to find out who's going to be killed next. Waiting for the character to run from one screen to the next is a little annoying when you have to cross the island, but not a significant enough glitch to make you want to quit playing. The graphics are good and the location interesting, and overall the game is as good as the Nancy Drew series-although more violent and not quite as family friendly (there's mild language periodically throughout). I like the multiple endings. There are a few things I needed the walkthrough to figure out (like dealing with the wretched apples I toted around through much of the game). Thankfully, there weren't endless worthless games and puzzles to solve, and for the most part the game made sense and was easy to navigate. Satisfying.

First off I have to comment on the few people who've actually complained about the ending being different from the book. DUH! Let go of your ego's that were saddened because you thought you were so clever for "already knowing" who the killer is and then being wrong. Think about how that would affect the game, how you act, what you search for and concentrate on- if you knew the ending.
This game was very fun. I enjoyed it the most when I'd get a slight hint or direction and have to think about how to play it out next. I enjoyed the plot too as it was fun. I also liked the layout. You can still see your whole screen and click on your inventory and it's just presented at the top of the screen. You can also click on documents and books to read some of the printed materials you picked up. You pick up a lot of items along the way and sometimes you have to "disassemble" them to get other items out of them. That was the most fun figuring out and trying to disassemble or combine other items to re-assemble. Definitly keep in mind as many are saying, that you need to be into this type of game to play or it could be incredibly boring. Some downsides: It was a pain to go all over the island and then back to the house. There should be more actual "short cuts/secret tunnels" or quick links to say "go to..." I have no idea how anyone could ever solve this without a cheat. It is very fun to have a slight hint of direcion and still challenging to figure out how to follow that direction or hint- but very often you have no hint or direction and could wonder the whole island and house all day with no avail. Also, if you pay close attention to everything that was said, sometimes there are little clues and what to investigate next. Unfortunatly, if someone walks in the room or calls you- while they are talking and you miss what they said, I couldn't find a way to replay what they said. Also, the words show on the screen and then they are also said aloud. I read faster than they speak and I would like to move on after- but you have to wait for them to say the whole thing.

Wouldn't recommend for children due to some profanity. Game does require you to think alot and pay close attention to detail(GOOD)! Definitely need a lot of spare time before setting down to play this one.

I'm a big fan of the book this is based on, which is what attracted me to the game. I'm GLAD the ending is not the same as the book because, really, what fun would that be? While reading the book is not essential to playing the game, it might help give you some insight to the characters.
If you're accustomed to action-based games, this is NOT the game for you. This is a puzzle game, consisting of lots and lots of dialogue, picking up items, and solving mental challenges. As others have said, I do wish there were "shortcuts" in the game. Walking/running from one end of the map to the other ate up a lot of time. While I did enjoy the scenery, a lot of game time could have been saved if there were quick transport options. Also, my game ran on Vista, but I did run into a couple glitches. I found myself saving often, because certain items, when examined closely, caused the program to crash. It didn't happen often, but it occurred enough times to become mildly annoying. It is impossible to get through this game without some kind of cheat sheet. Some required actions or items made absolutely no logical sense. (For example, a conversation is held with someone who's hanging out in the bathroom... Why is s/he there? There's no explanation.) I don't know if the game creators were trying to be clever about their hiding places, but too often I was not provided with enough info to successfully solve or understand what I was supposed to do. Even with all that said though, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It was dark yet sophisticated, much like the book. I didn't want to stop playing, even after several hours. The storyline flowed smoothly, and the characters kept me guessing.

If you are tired of 1st person shooters and like beautiful scenery and puzzles then this is the game for you. I was engrossed for hours and the graphics are quite good considering the low spec requirements. With most PC games the plot and finality isn't important but this game I was captivated from beginning to finish to know the outcome. There are maps in the booklet and if and probably when you get stuck there are a couple of excellent walkthroughs online.
This game is an advanced point and click type of format (much better than the old Myst format). COlors are vivid, graphics are excellent. My only complaint is I wish they stuck to the original book ending. Much darker and made more sense instead of the "fluff." But at least they gave alternative endings.

This was my favorite of all of Agatha Christie's books, and I couldn't wait to play the game. The game was really great, but just like "Murder on the Orient Express" some of the puzzles were too hard.
Story-You are a boatman who is just taking 8 guests over to an island for weekend party with their hosts and two servants. When you get there, however, someone ruins your boat making it impossible for you to return. You're stuck on the island with the 8 guests and the servants, but the hosts are nowhere to be found. After a very dramatic accusation via record, one-by-one the guests and servants start to die. Murdered, supposedly by the hosts, who are nowhere on the island. . . Graphics-The graphics are foggy outside and nice inside. It gives a good atmosphere. The people look okay, but sometimes after the people are dead if you go look at them in the rooms, they are moving just like they were when they were alive. Other than that, the graphics are good. Sound-The voice acting is pretty good, and the music is good. The music changes for each chapter (there are 10), but while some chapters take a tiny bit of time, some take 5 times as long, so the same song can get annoying. Gameplay-This is a third person point-and-click game. The puzzles are mostly logical put the item in the right place, but some of them are REALLY hard. I had to use a walkthrough for one of them, and I found out that I needed another item. So I went find it to find out that I needed to do something to that item with ANOTHER item. It was really frustrating. That is why I took off one star. Fun-It is a really fun and scary game. You find yourself wondering if the killer is coming after you next. The box says that there are four endings, but you can only change endings when you're almost at the ending, so you may not want to play the game through 4 times, because the majority of the game is the same. Length-The first time I played it took me a while because I got stuck on that one problem, but other than that, I got through the game smoothly. It probably lasts about 20 hours and a little less when you replay it. All in all this is a really good, slightly scary game that I recommend to Agatha Christie or mystery fans. NOTE:There is a bad word said about 3 times in the game for those who don't like bad language.

the graphics are fair and the story line is good, for a murder mystery. the characters do walk slow and, like the back of the cover says, there is foul language. the foul language is a little more there than the violence. besides that it's a pretty good game.
