Of all possible money wasters, This takes the cake. The manual tells you literally everything there is in the book, with an exeption of maybe 1 or 2 details per tech. This book is not worth buying, and is what i'd call a waste of time. The stragetys are not good, the 'highly detailed tactics' are VERY predictiable, by any gamer's standards, and you could learn just as much, and more by slipping into a gamer's forum, or a gamers chat room. i would like to give this book 0 stars, but it dosen't let me... Please... dont waste your time on this book.

This book is poorly written and poorly edited. I learned more about AOE from the software box. Save your money everyone.

The "Unauthorized Guide..." describes the various civilizations covered in the game "Age of Empires." Each civilization is summarized as to its main features, advantages and disadvantages (there is even a section on "cheats"). While the description of the games units (civilian, military and naval) are well detailed, there were several units listed in the games Scenario Builder which were not covered and which still remain a question to me, such as the "Medusa" unit. In all, this is a fairly good companion to the game "Age of Empires" and except for the slight deficiency noted above, is useful to those of us who like to relive (or rewrite) history.

I don't know what everyone's complaining about it not being very helpful. I bought this book hoping it would help me out, but only to a bare minimum. It exceeded my expectations.
