5.0 out of 5 stars WOW what a great way to health
I doubt that Amazon will allow me to write al that I could about the many changes to my life since being on the Zone Diet. I was out onto the book by a Phd Nutritionist when I asked him just what levels of protein, fat, carbs ought I take, he laughed and said the argument is still raging. But, the definitive study is still The Zone Diet by Dr. Barry Sears. I got it as an...

2.0 out of 5 stars Why so many titles?
This is the paperback edition of the book that appeared earlier in hardcover as "The Anti-aging Zone" (in my opinion, a better title). This review is from: The Age-Free Zone (Paperback)
This is the paperback edition of the book that appeared earlier in hardcover as "The Anti-aging Zone" (in my opinion, a better title). I suggest that it is better to read "Enter the Zone" instead of or before reading this one. I have reservations about recommending this book because there are some obvious mis-statements that should have been caught by an editor, a great deal of boring repetition, and some very stretched analogies (e.g. pages 32 and 50). The persistent reader might reach a point where they are rewarded by more details of biochemical mechanisms than are given in the earlier books. The tables of food amounts are different from those in the other books and appear to be intermediate between the earlier version of "Enter the Zone" and the later amounts of "The top 100 zone foods".

I got it as an eBook as I am cycle touring Australia. The book is set for normal people with a refrigerator and handy markets. I have neither. I adapted as well as I could. Fortunately, the scenery I was riding through at the time was rather limited for 3000 kilometers so I could focus on what the foods I ate were doing to my body. I stopped to eat every hour and 30 minutes later would have the results.

I had been in Ketosis for many years of my life. It took close to 6 weeks to stabilize my hormones from that. I had been having severe neuropathy in my feet after about 4-5 hours of riding. After 8 weeks on the new diet plan I have perhaps 10% of the pain remaining. My % body fat dropped from around 11% to 8%. I drank 2 liters of extra macadamia oil from Alice Springs to Pt Augusta and gained no weight, but had great strength. My difficulty now is to adapt what I know to daily life with a refrigerator and fresh produce near by. This book and Age Free Zone are incredible helpful as the guide needed to show anyone the way to be much more healthy.

May you be more well and more healthy after reading this book and applying what you have learned to your own diet

I've purchased 13 of each of the two books. Gave 6 sets away to family the rest are being mailed to me for distribution in Australia

Peace

4.0 out of 5 stars Bernie P. Nelson Review of "The Age-Free Zone.", December 2, 2000

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Age-Free Zone (Paperback)
Yep. I eat lots of potatoes and cabbage because it works from the inside to help with that youthful appearance, and "The Age-Free Zone" is crammed-packed with meals for home, fast food, and the mind. The author has provided a real service for people who are willing to pay the small price for the personal attention and time it takes to feel good and look youthful. This reviewer believes that positive, spiritual food for the mind is the most important model for slowing the aging process. Personal observation seems to indicate that people infected with tunnel vision, negativity, and those usually very serious about everything constitute the front lines of aging. Our physical existence resides in a world of polarity, decay, and re-birth. We may not be able to reverse aging, but this work sure will help with retarding this enemy of youth.
