We play this over the home network, the kids on their PC's against me on my evil monarch machine (as they dubbed it).
The game is not about blood and gore but about strategy and tactics and cooperation. My 7 and 10 year old now both beat me (alright alright, I am somewhat dim) and everytime we play the game gets us all excited. We build big armies, strike alliances or fight foes together.
If you have not tried this game and used to love Risk as a game then this is amazing stuff. The graphics are also exceptional.
Check the game ratings out with a search engine. This is one of the best in its category. Also note that we bought it for less that ten bucks.

You will need a disk per machine to play multiplayer (unless you're inot downloading cheats and hacks) and certainly to play online: 1 disk per player.

this game is fun, and addictive! After a few weeks, though, you may tire of it a bit- start playing random maps then, and you'll get a few more weeks of fun. Then you'll want to take some time off from it, as you'll find that you get so good at defeating others you don't want to play anymore. Or, change the difficulty level.

All I can say is I love Stragey/War games! The graphics were decent and the game play was amazing. Whenever I want to relieve a little stress and I have some time to burn this is defintely one of my goto games to play.

First I should mention that my only issue here is with XPLOSIV because they sent me a faulty CD key and I cannot, as of yet, play online. I have tried communicating with them electronically but their email address does not even exist anymore.

If you are a fan of the Age of Empires series then Age of Mythology must already be familiar to you. The game sported a new, revolutionary 3D engine as well as a new focus on ancient Greek, Norse, and Egyptian mythologies. The 35-scenario campaign, random maps, the scenario editor and the online multiplayer games are sure to keep you interested for a long time. I have now been playing Age of Mythology for about 8 years and, personally, my favorite aspect of this game is the scenario editor.

The possibilities in the editor are pretty much endless: diverse terrains, animals, seas, rivers, buildings, units, and even special effects are all waiting to be explored by creative minds. Combine all these design possibilites with camera tracks, cinematics, music, and dialogues and you'll be able to create anything ranging from a movie to a simple scenario or even a campaign. Still, if you get bored, you can always go online and find hundreds of files ranging from campaigns to movies, to strategy articles, to unit modifications.

My 9 year old homeschooled son absolutely loves this game. It has prompted him to learn more about ancient mythology through books, movies, discussions, and the Internet. This is one of the few PC games I let him play.

As the mother of an 11 year old son who is a big fan of age of mythology, I feel qualified to write a brief review. This is money well spent. When sitting down to a computer game, this has been the only one my son has played since he got it. He claims that it is challenging, fun and that he has learned greek mythology as well. Highly recommend.

I bought this for my best friends son.She said that he has not stopped playing this game since he got home.I would highly recommend this game.

it is a fun game for a long time online play is fun but gets old after a long while

I like the game, but I think its a little disappointing because it doesnt seem as good as AOE. Probably just me but....

Played this game 8 yrs ago, still a favorite, beat the entire series on the hardest settings is fun! Must have, with plenty of Hero's!
