I spent the better part of a decade reading new books by established authors. I was starting to feel burned out, most of the books were starting to feel pretty derrivative in the fantasy and sci fi genres. A friend recommended I take a look at some books by "Indie " authors.

The print version of this book was the first I read. It was refreshing to read something written not to hit a sales target, not designed to hit all the key points of a genre but that was written to be the story an author wanted to tell.

The world ls crafted with care to be both fantastic and grounded, no wizards or dragons appear in a story that takes just the right amount from the Arthurian myths and blends it with science fiction while adding characters we want to follow on an adventure.

Several years have passed since I first read this book and my Kindle has close to a hundred independent books and I still feel this world is one of the best created in a single book. I anxiously await the remaining books in the series.

This book was captivating from the first page. Not being too much into sci-fi I had no intention to finish, however, once I started reading I could not stop. The characters overwhelmingly came to life, driven by a plot as dramatic as a Shakespearean murder scene. Put this book on your must read list.
