4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Album, June 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Age of Reason (Audio CD)
A true classic from an Australian legend. He has managed to regin for over three decades now and this was one of his finest pieces of work. His voice is amazing and the album itself is close to flawless I'd recommend it for anyone who is a John Farnham fan or if you're curious about the man this album will win you over.

5.0 out of 5 stars The album that made Farnham standout, February 17, 2005

This review is from: Age of Reason (Audio CD)
As an Australian I am proud to see a fellow Aussie singer attain stardom and John Farnham is well deserving of praise for in his music career he has achieved so much. I have had the opportunity to see him live in concert here in Sydney and was thunderstruck by the level of feeling and emotion he sung each song. He is a real star on the stage.

Age of Reason, is my favourite album from John Farnham and I have been a avid listener and collector of his music from my teen years. Many of my favourite songs and well known songs are on this album release. The CD starts with an outstanding opening song called 'Age of Reason' (a song which should be heard by soldiers before they go fighting...maybe teach them the futility of war)and ends with 'When The War is Over'. The theme of this album is simply the futility of hate. Farnham puts his message across well and not in a political way like the Oils did.

Great songs, great artist and perfect album.

5.0 out of 5 stars JOHN'S GOLDEN AGE, February 19, 2012
This review is from: Age of Reason (Audio CD)
After WHISPERING JACK became the biggest selling rock album of all time, Aussie megastar John Farnham released AGE OF REASON in 1988.
This excellent collection features some of Farnham's best work. Featured musicians David Hirschfelder (Keyboards), Brett Garsed (Guitars), Angus Burchall (Drums) and Wayne Nelson (Bass) provide superlative support.
Farnham keeps things harder-edged than usual, including a cover of AC/DC's IT'S A LONG WAY TO THE TOP.
Two of Farnham's biggest hits are featured: the soaring message of AGE OF REASON with its textured vocal harmonies and the anthemic passion of YOU'RE THE VOICE. Other strong tracks: the driving BURN DOWN THE NIGHT; the emotional ballad WE'RE NO ANGELS; the powerful BEYOND THE CALL and the infectious SOME DO SOME DON'T.
There's really not a weak cut on the album and is a significant pinnacle in Farnham's illustrious career.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stuart, June 7, 2005
This review is from: Age of Reason (Audio CD)
I First remember John's music From The Rad Soundtrack with its opening scene playing "Break The Ice." What a cool moment & great movie. But on Age Of Reason, he breaks away from the Rad Soundtrack sound a little for a more Westcoast AOR sound. I like the songs Two Stong Hearts, Burn Down The Night, The Fire & the AC/DC Cover of It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Want To Rock N Roll). Overall I still love the "Break The Ice" sound but this is a close second.
