5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing art and great storyline, April 13, 2000
This review is from: Age of Reptiles: Tribal Warfare (Paperback)
Ricardo Delgado has outdone himself with this extroardinary graphic novel about feuding dinosaur families. This novel is a mix of Jurassic Park and The Land Before Time. A definite read for comic fans and/or dinosaur fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Beautiful" Is the Best Word To Describe It, June 19, 2009

Age Of Reptiles: Tribal Warfare
Graphic Novel Review

Grade: A

Ricardo Delgado is a genius. That's all I can say--words can only begin to describe his creation, Age Of Reptiles: Tribal Warfare. He wrote and drew the series, which is a breathtakingly original look on the world of the dinosaurs.

The whole comic has no dialogue; Delgado relies on facial expressions and exquisite detail to move the plot along. We don't even get so much as a 'roar' from the Tyrannosaurs. But the lack of dialogue makes it more like you're looking at page after page of paintings, rather than comic strip panels, which gives the book a story-board like feel to it.

The plot revolves around a Tyrannosaur clan, and their rivals, a band of Deinonychus. The Deinonychus' steal some eggs from the Tyrannosaur clan, and the clan spends the rest of the book getting revenge, in one form or another. But the Deinonychus' have a few tricks up their sleeves...

Delgado does too. The book takes some turns I didn't expect too, and that's not easy when you're doing a graphic novel that doesn't even have dialogue. Even the way it ended surprised me.

In the end, you just can't go wrong with Tribal Warfare. Delgado, though being rather new to the genre, is already a master in my book, and that's saying something. (It's also saying to go out there and read Tribal Warfare!!)

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece of sequential art, September 25, 2008
By
A. Cosenzo (Wilmington, DE United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Age of Reptiles: Tribal Warfare (Paperback)
If you have any interest in sequential art, this masterpiece is a must read. It contains no text at all - just art, telling a story.

Also, although this book is pretty old, the dinosaurs are still surprisingly modern. Some even have feathers - pretty controversial back when this was written!

Do yourself a favor - track down a copy of this out of print book, and enjoy!
