4.0 out of 5 stars Don't fall for ripoff prices, October 31, 2007

There's an incredibly unscrupulous seller here, marketing the book for over $600. DON'T FALL FOR IT. The book may be purchased brand new at the Telltale Games website for an affordable $17.99. Caveat Emptor indeed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Mostly for Nerds, July 31, 2007

This review is from: The Age of S&M - A Sam & Max Sketchbook (Paperback)
There isn't much text in this book, so don't expect a lot of reading material. What is in the book is a collection of rare art from Purcell himself, some of which dating back to when he was a little boy drawing cartoons on notebook paper.

While the casual fan may not see anything interesting in the pages, the hardcore and the die-hards probably already bought this book simply because of the rarity of being able to see storyboard art from the Freelance Police Saturday Morning Cartoon show, as well as concept art for toys that never got produced for various reasons. The biggest draw to the book would be the concept art for one of the two cancelled Sam & Max game titles prior to Sam & Max: Season 1.

A must buy for anyone that likes the Freelance Police, and a requirement for anyone who likes to study an artist's sketch collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm on the internet!, February 14, 2008

This is a fine book! Hot damn!

Lots of neat artwork that's never been seen by the human eye! I'd only recommend this if you are a crazy Sam & Max fan otherwise... stick to the comics if you want Sam & Max in print. It's not worth what the sellers on Amazon are charging and that's all I have to say about that!
The second sketchbook "The Effigy Mound" is still for sale as Telltale Games for under $20 so I'd jump on that since it's cheaper and of the two sketchbooks I think it's the better one!
G'bye!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sellers ripping people off eh?, December 29, 2007
This review is from: The Age of S&M - A Sam & Max Sketchbook (Paperback)
A great read for any Sam and Max fan, hardly worth more than 20 dollars the fine people at Tell Tale Games are selling it for. I think one of the sellers put *1983 Edition* in the description for no reason.

Seriously, go to tell tale. You can always shoot them an e-mail asking if they will be getting it in stock anytime soon. Another sketch book called the effigy mound was released, another great collection for Sam and Max fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars great book, but not worth $600, October 22, 2007

Steve Purcell introduced this limited edition sketchbook at Comic-Con in 2006. It has a lot of never-before-seen art and is a great purchase for any Sam & Max fan. This sketchbook will not be reprinted but supplies are still available and it sells new for less than $20 at www.telltalegames.com. Someday it may become a rare collectible worth the $600 some sellers are asking, but that day hasn't come yet.
