This game is ok but bloody and gory as you blow up and kill zombies. It is fun but it has you outnumbered 50 to 1 at times. But of course the zombies don't have hand grenades or machine guns.

The things that are bad are listed below where there are excessive permissions and 7 adware programs. The app even tracks your general location. It includes Facebook and if you log on the privacy permissions even state that they will collect your friends list. This type of data collection is uncalled for on a game app and for that reason I give this app 1 star.

Permissions:
* Read phone status and identity
* approximate location
* modify or delete contents of your SD card
* find accounts on the device
* full network access
* Google Play license check
* receive data from the internet
* view network connections
* view WIFI connections
* pair Bluetooth devices
* retrieve running apps
* prevent tablet from sleeping.

The app is 68.3MB in size and it installed 11.3MB in my device memory and 57MB on my SD card.

This game contains 7 ad spamming programs. They are:
AdMob
AdSense
GreyStrip
InMobi
Millennial
MobClix
moPub

It also includes Amazon licensing and Google licensing. The code for Facebook is also built into the app.

1.0 out of 5 stars Invasive permissions July 25, 2014

Retrieve running apps.
There is no need for any app other than a system / diagnostic tool to know what else is running. ESPECIALLY a game.
Just say no, and move along to any of the other offerings from developers who don't take their customers to be fools.

"Get information about the currently or recently running tasks: a thumbnail representation of the tasks, what activities are running in it, etc

Spyware is spyware and does not belong in a game/app that the seller is charging the end user a fee to own. I can somewhat understand greedy programmers putting sypware in free games, but once you start charging a fee for a game/app, all spyware should be removed. Ratings will suffer for those greedy programmers who insist on putting sypware in paid games/apps. Fair warning!!!

Another problem is the BILLING permision, which does not belong in a paid for game/app. When a programmer charges for a game/app, the buyer would expect that it is complete, not missing parts which would require additional payments.

Today's second free app of the day, for 2014-07-25 (the first was removed at 10:00 - PhotoSuite 3) is a repeat of 2011-07-08.

While PhotoSuite was a Disaster of SPYWARE and an obsolete version, Age of Zombies is just a knee-jerk replacement which is not any better.

First, You will be reading over 300 old reviews of people who downloaded it the first time, 3 years ago. The overall score is tainted by the high number of old reviews. They do not reflect our views as customers today. A hundred more reviews would be required by all of you to even affect this old score.

Most of Amazon's loyal customers expect more than obsolete apps, apps loaded with spyware, and now an old replacement app that we already got 3 years ago (unless you happened to miss it this first time).

This repeat replacement also is a phone memory hog. It requires 47 megabytes of memory - That's 10 times the size of the terrible app offered this morning (which was removed as spyware). I think it is fair to say that we, the average customer, do not want to fill up our phones with memory hogs - free or not.

Who's making these decisions at the Appastore?

Aren't we, the customers, worth more than this? When a company makes decisions like this it loses sales, then it loses customers. Search Appazons name on the web and you'll see how they're doing today. See the connection?

I hope everyone who is reading the latest reviews makes one of their own - even if it is one or two words and one or two stars - we as customers are not happy with the Appastore and what is going on here.

UPDATE: It looks like the dev team did remove two of the most offending permissions since I last looked at this game, namely

REMOVED Coarse GPS
REMOVED Cloud to Device Messaging

What remains is:

*Read from external storage
*Read only access to device state
*Connect to paired bluetooth devices
*Open network sockets
*Write to external storage
*Allows verification of Google app Entitlements
*Access information about Wi-Fi networks
*Access the list of accounts in the Accounts Service
*Access information about networks

Still unnecessary permissions in a premium app, but I did bump up from one star to three as an OKAY game since the two big kahunas were sliced out.

LMAO!! So a FAOTD with serious permissions issues gets replaced with THIS?!? Not quite the Privacy Invasiveness of PhotoSuite 3, but it's the Rovio syndrome for sure. Advertising out the wazoo.

Read only access to device state <<--- e.g. Device State/ID, likely used for addressing advertising in this case.

Get information about the currently or recently running tasks: a thumbnail representation of the tasks, what activities are running in it <<--- In other words, when you long press Home-screen and get that carousel of current/past apps, this is what it reports back with.

Open network sockets
Access information about Wi-Fi networks
Access information about networks <<--- All three equals FULL Network Access to report back, which generally can be fine, but not with the baggage this is carrying.

Access coarse (e.g., Cell-ID, Wi-Fi) location <<--- What, to track local zombies in my neighborhood and send them my way?

Game is too choppy. Graphics repeatedly cut out, and I even had to restart my Kindle to get out of it. This is overpriced and overjoyed.

When the game first came out, it had so much charm; the retro graphics matched the 80s and 90s pop culture references. The new look is horrible. Read more

we want age of zombies for the fire!!!!!!
I got this game when it came up on the daily free app. Love playing it on my phone, and was super excited about playing it when I got my Kindle Fire. Needless to say I was disappointed when I found out I can't play it on my new toy! Humbug!!

I've been having this same issue, and just got off the phone with AT&T.

You'll have to contact them and have them "push" the update for you. Contact Technical Support, because most of the Customer Service people aren't even aware of the problem.

Also, SN: HTC has apparently... Read More
