this dvd just goes to show that even though bill is doing this dvd on his own he is just as fuuny as he is in the blue coller comedy tour series. when i saw aged and confused on comedy centeral i knew that when it came out on dvd i just had to purchase this dvd. having age and confused shot in his hometown makes it that more enjoyable. if you are a fan of bill's or of the blue collar series then this is worth the purchase. the nice thing about the dvd is having the extra of bill doing just here your sign.

I wish I could get this DVD right now---just saw most of it on Comedy Channel. Bill Engvall is the BEST. This program does NOT disappoint. It is classic, just keeping up with all of us and him...you will hear stories that you can probably relate to about trying to keep the flame alive, and if you can imagine Bill having a colonoscopy---I won't begin to explain because NO ONE can do it better than he can!!!! But I just HAPPENED to see his name in the newspaper TV Guide and it was the BEST lift I could have gotten all week!!! I related to all of it...some of the stories were straight from my own life or people I know!!! But Bill is my absolute FAVORITE of ALL TIME---I don't think ANYONE is FUNNIER...he takes REAL LIFE but shows you how FUNNY it is. And keeps it CLEAN. While I am not sure that this routine can top his last "free range chicken" it certainly deserves a spot on anyone's shelf, and I will definately have it at the top of my list for several people for gifts in the coming year.

I am rating this review based on Bill's prior stand-ups. I have ordered this DVD, and anxiously await it. Bill is my wife and mine's favorite comedian out of the Blue Collar group. We like Jeff and Larry, but Bill is our favorite. Ron is our black sheep, that we would rather not see on the Blue Collar list. Anyway, I also wanted to review this because the only other reviewer here is by someone who bought the wrong item, and reviewed the DVD instead of the CD. I don't think any of Bill's stuff should have a 1 star rating. He turns everyday life into funny stuff. That's where Bill and Jeff top the cake, because they make family life that would normally be mondane, into funny, and at the same time, keep it clean. Larry is also funny, but for a different reason, he makes fun of all those who think you have to be pollitcally correct around everyone. As a Christmas present for my wife, I bought this DVD and tickets to Bill's show this tour. This is something she has wanted to go to for years now, ever since she heard him on his "Hers's Your Sign" CD. So, I really look forward to seeing this DVD, and being able to see Bill in person for the first time with my wife. I hope he keeps on doing the stand up, unlike Jeff, who I thought should have kept going with it and gave it up for too many TV Shows that didn't make it (except: "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader). My hat's off to you Bill.

Disappointed,

I have ALL of Engvalls DVDs and was so excited to get this one BUT last night 11/22/09 I watched it on Comedy Channel and was so disappointed..He just hasnt gotten back in his rhythm since his comedy show on TV went off. I love him usually but both my husband and I said....this is NOT Engvall we love...it was just not up to his usual standards..near the end he started to get it back to his usual standard..but not enough that I am gonna buy the DVD.
Sorry Bill....needs work

Bill Engvall is a really funny guy. I love his routines and became a big fan when I first saw him on Blue Collar Comedy Tour. But he just doesn't show the happiness here. He seems to be missing something that makes him one of the funniest guys around. Cheer up Bill! :-)

I am a HUGE Bill Engvall fan, but this was not his best DVD. It's funny, but not quite the same level as "Here's Your Sign" or "15 degrees off cool".

Bill Engvall in my opinion is one of the funniest comedians today. He relys on his family experience and thoughts. An with my being around his age I can see the humor even better. I love a comedian that can make me laugh without use of profanity as every other word. His thought process on many diverse aspects of life is sheer enjoyment!

Witty Outsider Tale-Telling,
By Kevin L. Nenstiel "omnivore" (Kearney, Nebraska) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Aged and Confused (DVD)
Engvall pitches himself this time as an outsider: not the smart guy handing signs to idiots, but a guy struggling to understand an incomprehensible world. Women, culture, technology, society... you name it, Engvall struggles to understand it, and can't. And he invites you to share in his incomprehension, like maybe we can work together to figure out the tough knots.
Part of Engvall's magic is that he doesn't lapse into frantic mannerisms or mug for the camera. He talks to his audience like we're at our local pub, commiserating because we got old and the world has left us behind. His conversational tone, leavened with clean humor and sympathetic friendliness, hasn't shown up in comedy much since Carson died, and I've mourned its absence. Where his Blue Collar fellow travellers have grown aggressive in their down-home portrayals, Engvall remains disarming because I don't feel like he's playing a character. He feels like that funny friend we all have, offering us another beer and telling us a story that cracks us up because it feels real. We see ourselves in him. I for one appreciate that simple, witty honesty. |
