James Agee was from 1941 to 1948 the movie critic for Time and from 1942 to 1948 he wrote the film column for The Nation. He then went to Hollywood and began writing the scripts collected here for such directors as John Huston and Charles Laughton. In 1958, three years after his death, his novel A Death in the Family was awarded the Pulitzer Prize.
