3.5 Stars,
By Megan "Bad at Nicknames" (California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Agency of Extraordinary Mates Vol. 1 (Paperback)
This romantica book consists of 3 stories set on a magical Chimera Island in the middle of the bermuda triangle. The first is Finding Magic by Kate Douglas, it tells the story of a A list Hollywood actress and her male best friend/bodygaurd/personal assistant. Amanda needs a vaction so her best friend, Les, talks her into visting Chimera. At the same time an elvin prince (these particular elves shape shift into dragons) named Lorcan is sick of bad set ups by his mother. So his manservent Tady (also an elf) talks him into trying to find his bride on his own, through Chimera of course. Once on the island Amanda and Lorcan meet, as do Tady and Les. Tady and Les have instant chemistry and a strong connection. Male/Male sex is not my thing (which I did not realise this was a large element of this story when I purchased it), but the writer did it pretty well. Amanda and Lorcan keep having misunderstandings and thier relationship is not as well fleshed out. All in all the author's heart seemed to be with Les and Tady, not the more typical main (heterosexual) couple. If you injoy reading about male/male relationships, I think you will like this story.
The secound story is Eve Vaughn's 4 Play. Trina is having a really bad day, problems at work and she just caught her boyfriend cheating with her male best friend. She has a well deserved freak out at her boyfriend and throws him out. Thank goodness for a woman who actually has a reaction to her boyfriend betraying her (too many women in this genre just go "oh well"). Then she recieves an all expense paid invitation to an exclusive resort. Little does she know she is a potential mate for the Alpha Triad. They are Manani, a shape-shifting race where three men mate with one woman. Pretty well done menage story. Sea God's Pleasure by Alice Gaines is about Gloria, a museum director with a new show about to open. The show includes one of her all time favorite paintings The Sea God, one big problem, the painting is now erect, but only she seems to notice. Her staff, driven nuts by her freak out behavior, forces her to take her free vaction to Chimera. Where Amanda finds her self in the real live version of the painting. Turns out the Sea God, who's name is Quarian, is courting her in his own unique fashion. Some fun with Quarian bringing Amanda's fantasies to life, but much of the dialogue is overdone and stillted.

4-Play,

If you like the idea of winning a dream vacation just when you really need to get away, then you're going to love the Agency of Extraordinary Mates series.
In 4-Play, you find Trina, a young woman who has reached the end of her rope. She wins an all-expense-paid getaway, which she feels is too good to be true, and she's correct. Not only does she get to vacation on a beautiful tropical island, but she meets three hot men who want to make her their mate! The twists and turns these men have to go through to convince Trina that she belongs to them, makes this book an enjoyable read...and the sex is hot too!

I liked the idea of Chimera Island. An island where non-humans could find mates. But already by the 2nd story the formula was not working anymore for me. I don't know why. I liked the stories and chartacters (hence the 2 stars). But there are several other volumes after this one that unless the author interests me, I won't buy. This is a Changling Press Pub.

I spent alot of money on this worthless book. What's supposed to book erotic was just plain "dry". The stories were obviously not well written, just another quick rush by authors with so little time. Not worth the buy at all.
