Agent 18 VideoShield for 30GB iPod

PROS:
- attractive
- great scratch protection for screen & body of ipod
- fits well
- allows access to controls (but almost every case does)
- Open on bottom, so I could use it with my Griffin Roadtrip without removing it (but I don't think it would fit in a dock)

CONS:
- SLIPPERY! Slides off beds, desks, tables easily
- no shock-absorbing qualities
- no way to attach to belt clip
- no way to attach a cord (for using while exercising, etc.)
- no clickwheel protection
- pops off if ipod is dropped
- Agent 18 case itself scratches easily

I thought my Agent 18 case was GREAT, until my ipod fell just two feet, tipping off the edge of my kitchen table - it hit the vinyl floor, the case popped off, and my ipod - which had been extremely well cared for and had never fallen before - never worked again!

It was only then that I realized that while the Agent 18 case is sleek, attractive, fits well, and provides great scratch protection, it SLIDES off of surfaces (like beds or tables) easily since it's hard (versus having any gripping properties, like silicone or even leather).

It doesn't provide any shock-absorbing qualities, like a softer material might. And it DOES pop off if it falls...which is about as good as having no case at all!

Also, there is no way to attach a belt clip, cord, or anything like that to the Agent 18...making it difficult to use it while exercising.

Overall, if you just want a sleek, clear case for scratch protection, this is it...but from my experience it won't provide much "overall" protection for your cherished iPod.

I purchased this case for my 30GB Video Ipod a year and half ago when the video ipod was brand new and the case selection was very limited.

I am not a particularly clumsy or careless person, but I have still dropped it many many many times, and my ipod remains in pristine condition, even if the case is a little scratched. Obviously, every day wear and tear will take its toll. No, the case is not scratch proof. But its not like it scratches at every little touch either. It is sturdy, dependable, and great protection. The scratches that have happened to the casedo not prevent me from enjoying the screen. Videos are still clear and easy to watch. True, after a while particles from your pockets collect around the gaps in the case, but they are easily cleaned with a quick wipe or a pressurized can of air. I have never owned another case, so I have nothing to compare to, but then again I have never needed to buy another case, which for a year and half, thats something.

Overall, I consider this case money VERY well spent. It has saved my ipod from a lot of damage, and it takes damage pretty well itself. I have never had my case pop off when dropped, and the case still remains easy to remove. I clean off my ipod every few months or so. And it still looks brand new. Eventually I may need to get a new case if my case continues to accumulate scratches, but I don't see that day coming any time soon. What more can I say?

When I finally bought myself the new black iPod Video, I immediately realized that it would get very scratched up. I had been looking at the covers other people use for their iPods but didn't really like any of them. I wanted something that would protect the iPod as well as keep it from scratching without looking like a piece of rubber. This product does it all. It is clear, so you still feel like you are looking at just the iPod. It does not make the iPod Video much thicker. You can plug in the earphones, turn the lock switch of or on and plug USB port cord or microphone in with the cover on. You do have to remove the cover to place it on speakers but this is not a big deal to me. I love this cover!

this ipod case is near perfect! the only possible downside is, the bottom is unprotected so some particles get in, and sometimes under the screen, but its able to use any attachment, so its a good compromise.

I have one of these cases and also the contour designs showcase for my 30G video. Both are nice and clear and do not compromise the screen viewing to any great extent. The Agent 18 is austere and simply designed, and it fits snug (!!) For the extra ten dollars though, the showcase is worth it. The rubber moulding gives it more style and protection, (especially on the bottom of the ipod). One drawback is that it doesn't close completely ( a small gap in between the top/bottom will show, for me not a problem but for others it may be the reason to go with the Agent 18).

I have been through ipod cover after ipod case after ipod skin. This thing is the answer to all my prayers. It looks sleek and fits snug. I used clear adhesive front and back covers in addition to this for the ultimate in ipod protection. Would recommend to anyone.

yeah i dropped my ipod. but thanks to this 30g shield it didnt get any damage. it fits snug to my ipod. i love it. it takes the damage so my ipod doesnt. yeah it doesnt protect the click wheel, so if you drop your ipod more then i do or you just value your tag along music buddy then get some of thes click whell protectors. it also doesnt protect the bottom. it gets a lil scratches in your pocket from like change and stuff, but i guess they left the big gap for you ipod add ons like the radio or something. if you value your ipod very much then you should get this.

My boyfriend after a year of having his iPod has not removed the plastic coating...Thanks to this nifty item.

This is a good case. I have the one that fits the 30Gb iPod video, and has performed well, keeping the iPod clean and operating for 5 years. It does tend to trap particles inside the case, but what case doesn't? Just be sure to wipe the inside every once and a while to keep your iPod from being scratched.

While the Agent 18 case is not meant to protect the iPod from falls, in many cases it does. It is only snapped onto the iPod, so when it hits the ground the two pieces separate, in the process absorbing much of the force that your iPod would have otherwise been subjected to.
