I prefer the more polarizing original AP to AP Eau Emotionelle. EE is a "light" version, largely because EE is missing the presence of the original. I'd put EE in the same genre as SJP Lovely Satin. More suitable for work than the original, but lacking that special something to make it distinguishable from any number of contemporary floral woody musks (Lovely, Strip, Bond Girl, Rumeur, Infiniment, etc). However, EE is a really nice musk to my nose - not overly synthetic, not excessively sweet, and not primarily animalic. Just nice.
Seems to me that AP EE is for a younger target market whereas the original AP is more appopriate for an older one. I like it but will not rebuy; I'd even swap EE for the original. Update - It's taken me a while, but EE is a grower. I clearly sense the lineage to the original and to Maitresse, both of which I wear. A nice skin scent for summer, and it wears well in heat. I also reach for it after a night-time bath.
