5.0 out of 5 stars Now They Are In Clinton's Cabinet
Thanks to Mr. Choate the reader can learn how some American citizens at even the highest levels of government have profited from a system of influence peddling that has become informally institutionalized by particular professionals without concern for America and Americans. The reader will be horrified. The reader will become disgusted. But, the reader will be...

3.0 out of 5 stars I LOVED this book, it helped me immensely
Mr. Choate should probably be considered a racist, but what white priveliged man early 90s wasn't? But the book gives you such an understanding of US-Japan relations, in an easy to read, fun, and concise way, that it really is hard to pass up. I now listen to lectures and speeches, with a whole new attitude, finally knowing much of the backstory between US-Japan...

Thanks to Mr. Choate the reader can learn how some American citizens at even the highest levels of government have profited from a system of influence peddling that has become informally institutionalized by particular professionals without concern for America and Americans. The reader will be horrified. The reader will become disgusted. But, the reader will be informed and a citizen's judgement is only as good as their information. This thoroughly documented information is based on the public records of the time. How about an update, Mr. Choate?

4.0 out of 5 stars Institutionalized corruption in America's political system, July 22, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Agents Of Influence (Hardcover)

A onetime Vice Presidential Candidate of Ross Perot's, political expert and Washington insider Pat Choate exposes the roots of political corruption endemic in America's highest elected offices.

Mr. Choate tries to shock us awake with examples of how American interests are being quashed by paid lobbyists working for foreign entities who repeatedly beat us by our own rules of political accessibility.

The style is typically dry, but the subject matter is truly horrifying. You won't believe how our highest government officials are selling us out.

This review is from: Agents Of Influence (Hardcover)
Dr. Choate steps outside the limits of the "entrenched" media and reports on many areas of foreign influence in our government. Great reading for anyone wanting to know how our government REALLY works.

Mr. Choate should probably be considered a racist, but what white priveliged man early 90s wasn't? But the book gives you such an understanding of US-Japan relations, in an easy to read, fun, and concise way, that it really is hard to pass up. I now listen to lectures and speeches, with a whole new attitude, finally knowing much of the backstory between US-Japan relations that I was unaware of before. Sure, Choate is often one-sided to the point of extremism, but he is also very intellectual and well-informed on the issues too.

I certainly recommend this as the first sort of policy/politics book for US-JAPAN relations, just because it is so short, brief, cheap, and easy way to jump into something very complicated and nuanced.
