Great!,
This review is from: Ages 6-12 Economy Archery Package (Misc.)
My 7 year old got this for Christmas, and wants to go out every day to "practice". We bought a couple of haystacks to have something to shoot at. This is "real" - the arrows have metal tips, the bow is wooden and almost as tall as he is, and when you shoot properly, it will go quite a distance - my 7 year old can shoot it over 50 yards and has only had it a few days. It comes with everything you need - the bow, several arrows, a thing with a belt clip to hold the arrows, wrist gaurd and two targets. One warning - it is not a toy, we require that he have supervision using it and shoot it only at the target. While the arrows are not really sharp, I would imagine that it could injure any person or animal it hit.

My boys have not come in the house since they received this for Christmas. They LOVE it. It is great for beginners and easy for the kids to figure out.

My 10-yr son has been wanting a bow and arrow for some time. However, because we live in a small town, I was not able to find one locally. Although I read the dimensions, I was still surprised at just how large the bow is! As another reviewer mentioned, my son is only allowed to use this with adult supervision because although the arrowheads are blunt, I imagine they could do some damage. Although the price is a little high, it was worth it for the enjoyment my son (and husband too) get from using this set, including the target that is included! Also, although the age is listed as 3-10, due to the size of the bow, my 10-yr old will still be able to use this for at least 2-3 more year, and he is tall for his age! I thought I should point this out because I considered getting the next size up which is more expensive. However, this one is perfect for him!

Archery Kids,

Ordered this archery set for my six year old son after he expressed interest a couple times in wanting to shoot my compound bow- which he's just a wee bit small to handle. He's not a very big kid for his age- and this junior bow is probably a bit big for him- but he's determined enough in keeping up with dad and with a litt instruction (not much) he's got it down pretty well. As his skill level improves- I hope the next door neighbor lady's cat stays off the top of the fence.

I got this set for my 9 year old boy. I think this is a perfectly good set for an entry level child.

Got this for my 8 year old son. He earns tokens for good behavior that he can trade for time with the archery set. He absolutely loves it. And so does his 13 year old brother. The 8 year old needs supervision because these are not the cheesy suction cup arrows, they can really fly. We set up a target on a cardboard box (stuffed with other boxes and paper) and the kids have already riddled it with holes. Next we plan to set up hay bales with a colored target - the targets that come with it aren't great, but everything appears to be of good quality. It's a great value - definitely worth the money.

As Good As It Can Get For A Nine Year Old,

My nine year old grand son is a Cub Scout and he took the archery program that they offer. They're not allowed to bring their own equipment to the range but the Scoutmaster and my son said the the boy had some aptitude for the sport and suggested getting him something he could practice with at home. I bought this for him for his birthday and he couldn't have been more happy.
The bow LOOKS like it means business. When he took it out of the package, he noticed right away that it was a "Bear" kit. I guess he and his father looked up some archery companies on the web and saw that Bear was a good "Adult" brand of bow. The fact that the kit contained everything he needed to go out in the backyard and shoot right away was also a plus (my son had purchased a couple of hay bales prior to the party as per my instructions) With the quiver attached to his belt, he strapped on the arm guard and finger guards and put a target on the hay and shot away under ALL the adult's supervision. The kid really is good, not perfect but good. He practiced under my son's tutelage for n2 weeks for the next competition at witch the scouts were allowed 5 arrows, best score wuins. He got 5 straight bulls eyes to win the Golden Arrow Award. I only have one tiny con, and it is nothing really. The bow is said to be a recurve, but it isn't it a plain longbow, which is probably better. BTW, one of the tags suggested for this item is "toy", it is definitely NOT a toy.

Arrow tips started falling off on first use.
No arrow rest so the feathers hit the bow affecting accuracy. |
