5.0 out of 5 stars No longer a skeptic!
I was quite skeptical when I heard the Agfa was "easy touse". The one-touch buttons which are programmable are handy, butyou're not committed to them. It's suited for such a wide range of computer literacy. If you're a low-tech person, this scanner is for you. If you're a high-tech person looking for great value, user-friendly software, sleek and compact...

This scanner does not include a feature to descreen photographs scanned from a magazine. Without the ability to perform this function the scanner is essentially useless if your main purpose in purchasing the scanner is scanning magazine photos. This was confirmed with Customer Service at AGFA.

I was quite skeptical when I heard the Agfa was "easy touse". The one-touch buttons which are programmable are handy, butyou're not committed to them. It's suited for such a wide range of computer literacy. If you're a low-tech person, this scanner is for you. If you're a high-tech person looking for great value, user-friendly software, sleek and compact design, and good-quality scans (good enough for my freelance publishing and design), this scanner is for you. I was only upset to find that this scanner which cost me a fraction of the price I paid a couple years ago for an HP, scans better and faster! As with any computer peripheral, do your homework, and it make sure it's compatible with what you're looking to get from a scanner! END

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great value for the money!, July 11, 2000

I never scanned anything before I bought this scanner, but my first scan turned out great! I'm using my scanner with a B&W Macintosh G3, but it also works with Windows 98 if your computer has USB ports. It took me less than 30 minutes to set up the scanner and begin scanning. The Scanwise software that you use to make scans is laid out in such a straight forward manner that it takes very little practice to learn how to use it effectively. It features a guided mode that can guide you through the scanning process every time you scan or just until you feel comfortable doing it. The more I've "played around" with scanner, the better my scans have become. The latest versions of the Scanwise software are available on Agfa's web site, and they are easy to download and install.

I've had a couple of questions for Agfa about my scanner that I submitted to them via their web site. Their customer service reps have responded to my questions within 24-36 hours.

I've been using my scanner to make copies of old family photos for which there are no negatives and, with a little effort, I've been able to turn out some beautiful reproductions that have looked as good, if not better, than the originals. That process starts with a good scan of the original.

I'd buy this scanner again!

5.0 out of 5 stars easy,easy,easy!, December 29, 1999
This review is from: Agfa SnapScan Touch LDTU6000 Flatbed USB Scanner (PC/Mac) (Office Product)
I am a new computer user, and therefore pretty dim when it comes to installing new hardware and software, I had a terrible time installing my printer and was quite hesitant to try and install a scanner, but wanted it bad enough to try. It was so easy! I just finished and I am very happy with the setup. There are easy to follow step by step instructions for the novice that made the whole process a breeze. I got it to scan successfully the first time out also, the only thing I can see is that I will have to play with the color adjustments as the pictures came out a little pinker than I like. Believe me when I say it is a great scanner for the beginner. Have fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars ScanWise software makes this the easiest solution..., April 14, 2000

With Touch scanner I have never used an easier scanner. Once you place the document, photograph, awards, artwork, magazines anything.. It does a pre-scan to determine the best format. No need to know about de-screening like other machines. After it determines the best way to scan you have the choice(with one touch of a button) to Print, Import into a word document, attach to an e-mail or run OCR software. I love the design of the unit because the wires come out of the side so I can save desk space. Great scanner! I wish AGFA would had started making more affordable scanners even sooner!

I'm a web designer and I acquired the AGFA snapscan touch USB for my Apple G-3. It's one of the easiest scanner to use and to work with. My little brother(four) scanned his own picture with the three programable buttons. It's so compact that fits on you small desk. Great scanner for a low price and great quality. What are you doing there? Go Get It!

This review is from: Agfa SnapScan Touch LDTU6000 Flatbed USB Scanner (PC/Mac) (Office Product)
I received this scanner and found it in excellant condition. Just as it was showed. Installation was a breeze, So simple. and I compare it with my other scanner which I paid twice as much and has outdone it in everyway. The simplicity of operating this scanner has never been so easy. I would recommend this scanner to anybody.

Scanners have come a long way in two or three years. Not only was the Agfa driver 10 times easier install than my old scanner (no headaches with USB), the pictures are way better too. The "scan directly to email" is a handy feature.

amazon shipped this fast, it set up and scanned fast and the scanning was easy. the software is admirable -- my father-in-law ordered the same software for his scanner ,a visioneer, after seeing what this software can do. as a novice scanner operator, i was surprised by the ease, speed and especially the quality of the scans. i was especially apprehensive about how disappointed i might be with the resulting scans, but the scans were great! it is a nice looking machine, too! i am very happy with this addition to my computer capabilities.

5.0 out of 5 stars above-average quality at a price anyone can afford, January 1, 2002

This review is from: Agfa SnapScan Touch LDTU6000 Flatbed USB Scanner (PC/Mac) (Office Product)
I've had mine for over a year and love it. It's inexpensive, takes *zero* experience and has given me absolutely no hassle whatsoever. All the software you need comes along and is easily installed, only one cord to plug in (gotta love that usb connection) and the photo quality has been far better than the price tag suggests. I've used its results on websites, both personally and professionally with great results. Unless you're a digital photographer or just enjoy blowing money, I see no reason not to buy this product.
