It does the job!,
By The key feature of this product that sold me was the optional Rat Tale attachment. Since my trap is paced in the attic and I don't want to climb up to the attic daily to check on the trap, the Rat Tale is a great option to have. Rat Tale is a remote monitoring attachment to the Rat Zapper Ultra and it notifies me by flashing red light when ever there is a catch, so I only need to climb up to the attic when I see the Rat Tale flashing. One draw back of the Rat Tale is that is uses it's own internal battery for power and I'm sometimes worried that it might run out of power before I noice that there has been a catch. I really prefer to deal with the catch while it is fresh than to deal with smelly decomposed mess. The Rat tale is rated to run flashing alert for 20 days, so maybe it's not really an issue if you check on it on a regular basis. The Rat Zapper Ultra is a great mess free trap. Add the Rat Tale, it is truely convient when the trap needs to be place at inconvient locations. For total cost of $68 for both, it is turely worth it. There are other more expensive traps with true wireless remote monitoring ability out there, but they are very expensive. The Rat Zapper Ultra is the best solution for the lowest cost. I only wish I bought this earlier before I hade experimented with glue traps and snap traps. The glue traps and snap traps are messy and they don't work well at all.

Finally, a better mousetrap!,
By In those five years, we've tried a large number of ways to stop this yearly invasion: - Traditional Traps They simply didn't work. Either the mouse could eat the bait without triggering the trap, or it would catch the mouse without killing it - which was pretty disgusting. I did find one type of traditional trap that worked, but then it was discontinued. - Glue Traps These were basically worthless. Mice would drag them to a new location, but then free themselves without too much trouble. - Poison This was a fun solution - I would go into my basement (where I work) and smell a week-dead mouse that I couldn't find. - "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" One year I simply didn't bother to try to catch them; I was too exhausted from previous attempts. I figured as long as they stayed hidden, I would ignore their existence. This option didn't go over too well with the wife. After all this frustration, I figured I would try the Rat Zapper. All I can say is: IT WORKS! I caught 6 mice in the first 48 hours I had it set up, and disposing of the mice and resetting the trap was clean and easy. Best of all, I can use this trap for years to come; it no longer has to be a yearly experiment to see how I can catch our rodent visitors.

Electifying!,
Finally a Zapper with more voltage! Now I can really sizzle those mice. I was previously getting rid of them with the regular Zapper that only uses 4 AA batteries; I really felt it wasn't enough. I had to modify my current Zapper MacGuyver-style to use the electrical outlet in addition to a high-voltage amplifier, outputing well over 120-volts of pure lightning. You can tell when you've gotten a mouse because you here a slight crackling sound like those Pop Pop Snaps fireworks you buy on the 4th of July. Also a bit of smoke if you get there quick enough. It's not uncommon to have the Zapper tip over on it's side due to the mouse getting thrown against the walls of the Zapper - those mice don't know what hit them. Science rules! *cackling*

....bittersweet...'designed obsolecense/made in china'....,
This review is from: Agri Zap RZU001 Rat Zapper Ultra (Lawn & Patio)
After getting the same canned answer from 'Agrizap' support I have to put my .02 out here...
The product works great for perhaps the 1st year...then after the warranty is up (1 year)...it will start to lose it functionality in the form of 'false trips' as they stated, the light will blink but no one is home, bait still in tact etc... oooor free food, the bait will be gone and nothing is tripped.... *there is maintenance associated with this unit, as these critters are zapped they lose control of bodily functions - urine specifically - and that is detrimental to the unit/will bridge the contact/frame together causing it to malfunction, so you must clean/soak it very carefully...however after all of that joyful time is spent, both of my units still do not function as intended... I have spent over $120 on 2 units/battery pack accessory...(not to mention batteries for this duration...another easy $50?) I will let you weigh the worth, however I've lost my patience with 'made in china' products breaking between 90 days - 1 year on the mark and emptying my wallet to replace them like it's part of the routine...companies needs to take accountability/ownership...otherwise please continue to write up honest reviews and let them feel it in their wallets...

The Rat Zapper really works!,
By
This review is from: Agri Zap RZU001 Rat Zapper Ultra (Lawn & Patio)
After reading a number of positive reviews here, I ordered the Rat Zapper Ultra to try and take care of a pretty serious mouse problem we were having. After receiving the unit, I baited it with the provided food (dog food, I think). But the next morning, we had no kills ... yet we did have more mouse droppings. So the next night I decided to use some of my own dog's dry food (which I knew the mice loved since they had eaten their way into a large bag of it stored in our basement). That did the trick! From that night on, I found a dead mouse every night for 11 straight nights. And that has completely solved our mouse problem ... one which I would have paid between $200 - $500 to have an exterminator do. So I highly recommend this product, as it works as advertised.

The Ultimate Rat Killer!,
By Mises (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Agri Zap RZU001 Rat Zapper Ultra (Lawn & Patio)
I live near a dairy so vermin come and go and sometimes stay. My first Rat Zapper Ultra worked great killing several rats in my attic. I left the Rat Zapper Ultra in my attic for several months and forgot all about it. I heard rats in my attic and remembered that I had left the Zapper up there. I checked the Rat Zapper, and the batteries were dead. I put fresh batteries in the zapper and it was not zapping. I looked inside the Rat Zapper and saw that rats had chewed up the inside ceiling of the Rat Zapper and wiring. The rats killed my first Rat Zapper! It was my fault for not checking on it and making sure the batteries were in good condition.
I bought two more Rat Zappers because they kill rats and this time I checked on them weekly. The zappers killed several rats (payback) and eliminated my rat problem in my attic for about a year. A few days ago, I heard rats again in my attic again it sounded like two rats because I could hear them chasing each other around. I was ready for rat war and loaded up my two Rat Zappers with fresh batteries and baited them with peanut butter. The rats would not take the peanut butter bait. I was very frustrated because peanut butter always worked in the past. Two days passed and the rats were winning the war as they continued to defy my Rat Zappers. Then while cleaning my garage, I found rat droppings next to a bag of dry dog food I had stored in my garage. I saw that the bottom of it was chewed open and that was the reason the rats did not want the peanut butter because they were feasting on high quality dog food. I prepared for battle and bought a commercial grade heavy duty Brute plastic trash can and put the the bag of dry dog food inside it and sealed it shut. I then placed my two Rat Zappers in the garage where the dry dog food was stored and baited them with the same dry dog food. The Rat Zappers were locked and loaded and ready to give their death ray to any rat that entered. The next day, I saw my Rat Zappers red lights flashing each with a cute looking DEAD rat inside. I buried the zapped rats in my backyard next to a tree and they will serve as fertilizer. :-) By the way, I have never followed the baiting instructions and maybe I am just lucky or have dumb rats. I just load the Rat Zappers with bait and turn them on. They have always killed rats usually on the first or second day. My advice is to identify the rat(s) food source and try to eliminate or contain it. Then place your Rat Zapper baited with the rats preferred food at that location. You have to monitor Rat Zapper weekly and keep it clean especially the inside. The Rat Zapper is expensive but it's the best rat killer I have ever owned.

Just got it 4 days ago. In 4 days - 4 mice/rats!! Almost like clockwork. I have to say, when you look at em after they get it, they really look like the picture on the case, arms splayed out, teeth bared, and dead. No fuss, no bleeding , just dead.

Works Great on Mice,

I have had this Rat Zapper Ultra for 4 months now. The thing works great with no fuss or muss. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to use it either. Just put in a few hard pellets, place it up agains a wall and flick the switch. We had a severe mouse problem but no more. Total kill to date on one set of batteries (26).

My ratzapper ultra arrived just a couple of days after I ordered it from Maine Supply Company and within a couple days of that the scampering in my attic stopped (curiously, what I assumed to be a squirrel turned out to be a mouse, which explains why my big Havahart squirrel trap never worked).
Although this is by no means a complaint, I note that the ratzapper did its job a little too well and overcooked its target, making cleanup a little harder than advertised. Still, I never had to handle the little fella, which is nice. Even now that the menace is gone, I intend to leave the rat zapper in the attic should we ever get another interloper.
