I recently purchased Agricultural Simulator 2011(AS11). There are many reviews out there that compare it to its competition, Farming Simulator 2011(FS11). I have played both extensively and have all of the patches, DLC/addons that are available. FS11 has a TON of independently-made FREE mods and, as of today, three addons which include ProFarm1, DLC packs 1 & 2. The latter three WILL cost you money. AS11 has no modding community or addon content and I'm not sure if they ever will or even need it. I have had zero technical difficulties with either game and believe that the many people that complain about EITHER simulation are simply trying these games on low-end PC's or don't understand how to manipulate their machines or the downloaded files. The simualtion genre requires a certain amount of understanding of basic file/folder structure and "tweaking" in order to get the full impact of the game and best performance. Although you are not required to do this with either game, you will find that it may become necessary eventually or simply want to improve/enhance something. Both games are made by German teams and their support pages can be frustrating to navigate, so be prepared to use Google Translate while visiting them.

With all of this being said, I highly recommend and believe that AS11 is far superior to FS11 and here is why:

1. The tons of free mods available for FS11 can be great, but you will find that many have "bugs" and incompatibilities with other mods/features and this can lead to lots of time trying to figure out what is conflicting with what and how to remove or fix stuff instead of enjoying the game. AS11 already has a large variety of equipment and it all works...there is really no need for mods or addons.

Update: 7/18/2011 NEW PATCH has improved and fixed many items in the game. I will provide specifics at a later time but at least UIG is taking the game in the right direction. Good job UIG!

Update: As of 6/14/2011 the game has not been updated from patch and the bugs have not been fixed. The official forum for the game had moderators that are very dictatorial and condesending to many users that post questions and comments there. The game appears to be headed for the dollar bin if the level of support is used as an indicator.

I've tried this game and it's full of bugs.. .graphic and game play related.
If you visit the publishers "English" forum ( [...] ) they do say that they are working on patches for the game but the bottom line here is that the game was released prematurely and did not receive the proper beta testing. It's really hard to say when if ever they will have the game working properly.

The game has good potential but as of patch it is still in need of fairly major repair.

While I really like the "look" of this game if you want a more mature product in the same genre have a look at Farming Simulator 2011 here on Amazon. It has tons of addons and they've really got it to the point where the program is working well compared to Agrar Simulator.

FYI: You have to have the FULL version, before this EXTENTION will work! (I saw all the bad reviews and realised that a lot of people didn't KNOW that) Hope that helps!

I still can't comprehend how I could possibly be fooled into buying this horrible game. But I did buy it, and I really regret doing so. I really do. This game is terrible, it's not even worthy of existence. There are so many bad things about it. For starters, the camera angle is impossible to work with. Unlike Farming Simulator, which has one of the best camera angles I've ever seen, this one is fixed to one area. So you can hardly see what you're actually doing. The inside view is not much help either. When I first played the game, I noticed this right away. It's annoying!! I spent more time fighting with the camera than actually farming.

The graphics are very nice, however the way they load is bad. As soon as you click "Load Game" they come up. Most games have a loading screen, because no decent graphics engine pops up right away. I have a powerful computer, but still the graphics lag, all because of the fact that they don't load like a normal game. While some graphics are really nice, like the trees, water is hard to look at. But overall the graphics are great. But, a little too demanding of your system's resources. But in many ways, the graphics are the least of the issues with this game.

The bugs are unbearable. Even with the updates, they are not fixed. Sometimes I end up having my equipment flying in the air, unable to come down. I've spent far too much time tangling with the bugs without success.

The AI is horrendous. If you go into the Farming Simulator village, there are cars driving around, and even pedestrians! But when you go to the village in this game, it's a whole different story. Not only is the village itself not so appealing, but it is void of any life, making it boring and useless. And out in the country, there are hardly any cars.
