Product Description

From the Manufacturer

An idyllic grange surrounded by invitingly untouched mountain panoramas and unworked fields are awaiting all agriculture fans in the Agricultural Simulator 2012. At their very own farm hobby-farmers undertake the daily tasks of an agriculturist: The producing of food, sustainable resources and the delivery of energy materials. Fields have to be worked and farm animals fostered. To work smaller fields and alpine pastures only machines with less performance are available at the beginning, but the vehicle fleet will constantly be supplemented by more powerful agricultural implements.

I cannot vouch for the complaints I have read about system compatibility as this works on my machine(listed below). This game is definately not for the impatient. The user interface is fairly clunky and bugs do occur. I agree that this game lacks polish that could have been obtained from proper beta testing too...

However, all that being said, this game can actually become quite enjoyable (mainly do to its realism. The game's key seeling point is the 3D tillable terrain, which up to the time of this writing all other farming sims lack. The most clunky part of the interface is ironically a key element of its realism whereby you must click on each attach point to mount or unmount a piece of equipment. This game also has a very interesting collection of antique machinery to try out.

To sum it up:
If you are new to farming games, i recommend you start with Farming Simulator 2013 [Download] or Agricultural Simulator 2012 [Download]. Then if you love those type games and need an old-fashioned antique tractor fix come to this one and be very patient as the ui takes a bit of learning. Once you master the ui you should start really enjoying this game.

1.0 out of 5 stars Sadly I didn't listen to the other reviews January 19, 2013

I read the reviews on this and decided to give it a try anyways. I'm a big fan of farming simulators and just couldn't pass this up. After downloading and updating the game to the latest patch I hopped in and immediately clicked on "Tutorials". It opened up the Tutorials window to show a blank spot where tutorials should be...however there are none. Lucky for me I've played many other farming simulators so I know the basics of what to do.

So I changed my key bindings and just hoped into single player. The Graphics are nice, that map looks good. Ran around my farm and had no clue what to do with any of the animals wandering around aimlessly. So I jumped on my starter tractor and looked around but couldn't find any equipment to use to start farming. So I went into the shop and was sorely disappointed in how little tractors (only 5) and equipment you can buy.

There were two choices of plows, a single row and a double row, both in red even though there is a color selection icon. Took me a good half hour to plow out a small field, although the dynamic plowing system they have is really cool feature. Also there are no fields, just alot of open ground so make a field where ever you want. That was pretty cool and realistic. Then I bought a cultivator and went through that.

Then bought a seed and couldn't figure out how to put seed into it. I was using the equipment menu when I accidentally disconnected the seeder from the tractor, so I clicked that same button thinking it would reattach...nope my tractor magically vanished from the universe. I should also mention there is no map so good luck figuring out where anything is. So bought another $1,500 tractor and that ended up disappearing as well while I was trying to figure out the seeder.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible economy and physics. January 3, 2013

The company changed the interface to their farming francise. Previous versions used a menu system. This system is a clicking-style interface. While the new interface is better in terms of micro-managment it is terrible when it comes to physics.

The game was release with many bugs. A few patches have been released however, after several attempts to question about further support I receive no responses. The developer has a history of dropping support for previously released games which are also bugged-riddled.

I cannot recommend this game - purchase Farming Simulator 2013. It is more stable.
