Good and better as part of the 3CD complete works,

I love Naxos for putting out the whole complete works, and by good guitarists. Frankly, I'm sure John Williams does a great job with these, but I can just as well enjoy them and get familiar with them with Antigoni Goni (who is excellent in CD2), Enno Voorhost (CD1), or here Jerry McFadden who does a very good job with them. As for the music, Barrios is a superb composer for his instrument, the guitar, and you'll want all three CDs, esp the Cathedral, Contemplacion, and the Sueno en la Floresta in the 1st and 2nd CDs. This CD is most valuable for the Medallion Antiguo, one of Barrios's celebrated pieces, but most of the titles are perfect for relaxing or background listening, although to me none stands out as a masterpiece of the Cathedral/Sueno caliber (yet quite honestly good pieces and pleasant to listen to).

This is beautiful music, beautifully played. I love classical guitar but did not know anything about Barrios until I heard a piece on our local NPR station. Went to Amazon.com right away because it is my primary source for good music. Ordered all 3 CDs for my brother-in-law, who is learning to play guitar. Went back to get them for myself and the first recording was no longer available. Glad to have the other 2, however.

The best but not the only adjective I can think of to describe this listening experience is: GREAT! Unlike Volume 2, this one captures the mellifluous beauty we have come to expect from Agustin Barrios. Volume 1 is also an excellent example, but I believe this volume (3) is the best.
