AA! MEGAMI-SAMA!!!!,

This is the soundtrack album for the first two OAV episodes ("Moonlight and Cherry Blossoms," and "Midsummer Night's Dream"). It contains long and short versions of both the opening and ending themes, sung by Goddess Family Club (the voice performers for Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld). This, and the second soundtrack album, are for ANYONE who loves this series!

So I've been a fan of anime OSTs for a while, and I've heard the really good, the OK, and the um...not so great. AMG, suffers a bit in the lack of depth in composition. If you like the show, then this soundtrack is very good for nostalgic purposes and whatnot but it boosts a few good tracks. If you're looking for Kanno/Kajiura, or Evangelion calibre stuff this is definitely not in the range. Funky stuff like Fooly Cooly (or rather FURI KURI) or Excel Saga also is more unique than this, basically stay away if you don't like this show in the first place, and if you don't like generic HAPPY synthed background music. I'm sure though at times of studying or I dunno, ambient background music for no reason this could work out. Noteworthy Tracks: the OP is rather anthem sounding, as my non otaku tomodachi pointed out. It's nothing great, sung by the Seiyuu of Skull, Urd and Belldandy. The ED is also OK, I mean if you are a fan of the show than by all means you already know the songs. Teardrops is actually a nicely arranged piano bit, though it sounds keyboard piano rather than real. In fact, there are some melancholy/acceptable tracks like Fortune and Affectionate Atmosphere. I dislike the Sailormoon-esque tracks with the synth, I dunno what...happy skipping moments. Really, if you want to give it a chance it is likeable, no matter what you like (unless you absolutely hate background classical Anime music) - but for something serious, go listen to Noir please. |
