In the sixth Mysterious You title, Aha!, kids delve into the secrets of smarts and discover what intelligence is, how it's measured, the different ways of thinking, intelligence in other species, computer intelligence and lots more. This series explores the mysteries of the human body using a mix of thoroughly researched factual information, amazing anecdotes and surprising try-it activities.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 4-6–This look at human intelligence briefly covers the physiology of the brain, how humans learn, common learning disabilities, how intelligence is measured, and "Making the Most of Your Smarts." Written in a breezy, offhand style, the book is a grab bag of facts and trivia. Sidebars, games, cartoon illustrations, and backgrounds of various colors make for a very busy layout. The experiments seem ill thought out and function more as filler than as ideas to further any kind of scientific inquiry. Although the more-than-adequate index will aid readers determined to extract the maximum amount of information, this offering is more for tiptoeing through the topic than for real investigation.–Dona Ratterree, New York City Public Schools

Review

A glimpse into a quirky world, Aha! is a compelling taste that will fascinate children and possibly spur them on to deeper study of the topic.

For middle-school readers, Aha! is an appealing introduction to the topic.

Full of quick facts and interesting information on the brain and intelligence. Briefly introduces topics such as geniuses, prodigies, multiple intelligences, the Nun Study, Einstein's Brian, etc. Colorful and varied book design nicely divides the information. Includes an index.
