1.0 out of 5 stars Ahh-Some isn't all that Awesome
I purchased this item in good faith after reading all of the good reviews about it. We recently purchased a home and the spa tub really needed the pipes cleaned out. We had tried other chemicals with no luck. So, we put Ahh-Some to the test.

First try, added it according to the instructions and noticed within 5 minutes massive bubbles coming up. It went up...

Ahh-Some Jetted Bath Bio & Gunk Cleaner (6oz)

This cleaner got a lot more gunk out of my Jacuzzi than any other cleaners or method that we used.

I have a new Jacuzzi that I had been unable to bathe in because of all the floating gunk, which had been a light brown color that looked like mucus.

*** Other Methods Tried

We first went to a forum which suggested dish soap and bleach, so we did that four separate times, and that didn't help.

Then my husband installed two whole-house filters (one on hot, one on cold) right before the faucet. That helped a little.

Then we bought some Whirlout at Home Depot, and that got some brown stuff out, but we still had as much coming out of the Jets afterwards as before.

Then I stuck a bottle brush into the jets and tried to clean them out, and my husband then removed the jets completely, cleaned then, and put them in the dishwasher. Neither of these things helped, even though we got some gunk out of them.

*** Ahh-Some Jetted Bath Bio & Gunk Cleaner (6oz) Results

When we put the Ahh-Some in, it immediately started getting out gunk that we had never seen before: black flacks and also a lot more of the light brown stuff. My tub must be really bad though because when I tried to take a bath after that, I still had more of the mucus-like stuff. So we ran the Ahh-Some again, this time for longer than the directions suggest. Again, more black and brown gunk came out. Afterward, when I tried to take a bath, it I still had the brown stuff, but a lot less. So we ran the Ahh-Some a third time, this time for over an hour. (I was determined to use this tub!)

Finally, I tried again to take a bath, and this time there was no gunk; however I had the jets on low. The other times I had them on high. I haven't tested it again with them on high, but I will. If there is more gunk, I will just run the Ahh-Some again. I am confident that it will get it all out, if it hasn't already.

*** Conclusion

I believe that this product works on most tubs with one application, but we actually bought this tub in 2003 and didn't install it until 2010. Jacuzzi tests their tubs, and they don't get all the water out of the pipes, and it just sits there. Whatever bacteria and solids that were in their water has been sitting in my pipes for seven years. Then I didn't know that I had to use special soap, and I used soap with oil in it with the jets on. DON'T USE OILY SOAP IN YOUR JACUZZI! Check the label!

It does say on the Ahh-Some label that particularly dirty tubs might require more than one application, and mine certainly did. I do recommend this product--it is the only thing that works that has finally allowed me to use my bathtub. However, be aware that if you have a problem tub (which I can see by reviews of the other sizes of this product) is rare, that you might have to repeat the first application more than once or twice.

*** Update -- Problem Tub Figured Out

We finally figured out the main reason behind the brown water (not the worst of it at first, but the overall brown color). We are on a well, and our water softener was not working at the time. Although we had the filters coming into the tub, they did not filter out the hard water (heavy metals and such). Once we got the water softener working again and the initial really nasty stuff out of the tub, it has been just fine. I don't think I would have ever been able to use my tub without the Ahh-Some though. I would have never gotten the initial gunk out of it. Now I use it after about every seven baths, and I have sparkling clear water.

We tried a couple of other cleaners and were underwhelmed with the results. When we tried Ahh-Some, however, every molecule that didn't belong in our Jacuzzi suddenly came streaming out like a rat in thrall to the Pied Piper. It might seem "spendy," as they put it the GPNW, but one full cleaning requires only a dab of the stuff, so a jar should last a few years. I doubt whether this product has a serious competitor.

I, like so many others, had tried the detergent and bleach combo several times,

and even some powered stuff from Lowes that was just for the purpose of cleaning the jets and pipes. None of those worked.

This product worked like magic !! I ran it through twice, just to be sure, and it is so amazing. Love, love, love. I have recommended it to my daughter, and will tell others about it.

Thank you. You are truly Ahh-Some.

After trying the conventional jet tub cleaning methods (dishwasher detergent, vinegar, and "Whirlout Pipe Cleaner", the "Ahh-Some Jetted Bath Bio & Gunk Cleaner" has done the best job of cleaning our jet tub which most likely never been cleaned by the previous owners. Although there are still a few specks still coming out of the jets, just two applications of a teaspoon each of "Ahh-Som" has done a far superior job of cleaning the jet tub, then a full bottle of the "Whirlout Pipe Cleaner", not to mention multiple cups of vinegar and bleach.

If the 6oz size seems a bit costly at $54.95, get the smaller 2 oz size at $19.95 as I did. Though I've already used two teaspoons of it, there is still a lot left before I will need to buy more, which I definitely will. Don't waste your money on buying bottles of "Whirlout Pipe Cleaner", as "Ahh-Some" does a much better job.

I used another product before I tried this. It didn't seem to clean well.

I used this and I had to clean the tub 5 times before it was done. I was surpised at how much junk was in there. Good Stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Tried all - This works to rid the black specs, December 2, 2011
This review is from: Ahh-Some Jetted Bath Bio & Gunk Cleaner (6oz) - Min 36 Cleanings/Applications (Kitchen)
After my jetted tub sat for 6 mo. during a remodel we had the black spec problem. I tried everything, bleach, etc. Even tried two bottles of whirlout but still the spec problem.

I bought two of the ahh-some cleaners. It took about 7 cleanings before there was only about 1 or 2 specs after a 20 minute run. After about 10-12 cleanings there was nothing.

I run it about once every three months and the tub is better than brand new. I use about a tablespoon each time, run jets on low for 20 minutes and drain. The advantage is you don't have to fill your tub twice to clean each time.

I just ordered more. Saved me from a buying an installing a new tub. It really works, you just might have to run it a few time depending on the severity of the problem.

This is an amazing product that just works. It immediately cleans out/brings up all the junk that's sitting there in your whirlpool bath parts - you know down in the jets where you can't clean. I had tried everything to stop the dreaded filmy bubbles but nothing worked until Ahh-some. I used 1 teaspoon my first time and now I use 1/2 teaspoon a week like clockwork to keep it maintained. To save on the water bill (and environment), I just use it after I get out of a a bath once a week. Worth every penny and it's refreshing to use a product that does what it says.

I was amazed at how well this product worked to clean our Jacuzzi tubs in our birthing rooms. We will be making this a routine part of our cleaning procedure.
