5.0 out of 5 stars Floating World meets Anime, December 25, 2007

This book made up of 30 postcards by Tokyo-based artist Ai Yamaguchi is spellbinding. Each is a portrait of a manga or anime-like female figure, but set in a background of the same delicacy and beauty as the classic screen paintings of Japan's "floating world" of brothels and theaters, concubines and actors. Truly enchanting postmodern art.

5.0 out of 5 stars gorgeously quirky, December 4, 2007
This review is from: Ai Yamaguchi: 30 Postcards (Postcard Book) (Cards)
I love this postcards so much,I bought some for my friends who loves all things quirky,japanese-style. The whimsical images are innocent yet somehow it is not suitable for children. Don't get me wrong, what I mean is the characters are drawn in such ways that sometimes you do wonder whether it is meant to be presented as a genderless or androgynous human, or the artist made these just for the fun of it!
The colors are bright and cheerful, and these cards were meant to be admired for the little things in each media that they represent. Japanese art especially like these postcards always fascinates me. Highly recommended!
