5.0 out of 5 stars Well written erotica
Be prepared, but a really wonderful story, lots of heat, graphic but emotional, well defined characters that you care about and get involved with...but definitely a HOT Lora Leigh read. Love the whole series of breeds/wolves...recommend reading them all from the beginning.

This review is from: Aiden's Charity (Wolf Breeds, Book 3) (Paperback)
'Aiden's Charity' is Book 3 of the Wolf Breeds and Book 8 in the overall Breeds series (per publishing dates), although chronologically it's Book 12.

Aiden is a Wolf Breed of incredible control. For years while imprisoned in the Council Labs, Aiden was able to fool the scientists with his seemingly impotence. After repeatedly having no physical reaction to females, even with the powerful drugs administered to initiate an intense sexual response, death now awaits him for the Council executes any Breed stamped with failure. But the stubbornness of one lab tech changes everything.

He's watched Charity for a year. Her seeming innocence and delicate stature makes him yearn to protect her, irrational as that may be. But Aiden is flooded with fury and betrayal when Charity coaxes a sexual response from his previously flaccid body. Now Dr. Bainsmith, head scientist and known for her sadistic cruelty, knows he's been playing her all this time. Yet her revenge is short lived, for the next day Aiden and the Breeds escape the torture of the New Mexico Council Labs.

Six years later.

Charity has narrowly escaped the exploding Council Labs in South America that held her prisoner for the last six months, just in time to die slowly in the surrounding mountains from a stomach incision. As blood leaks from her body, the mating heat that commenced six years earlier, now rages tortuously through her drug induced body. Weak from exhaustion, Charity awaits her death but this time it's Aiden that stands between her and death's door.

Charity, unbeknowenst to the Breeds, has fought for their release and the Council's demise in secret. Hiding the mating heat that plagued her, Charity played both sides and was able to pass information and messages to the Breeds in the hope that Aiden would one day forgive her betrayal and come for her. That hope soon died with his continued absence. Then after her secret was discovered, Charity was subject to torture in the name of Breed science.

Now it's Aiden who strives to bring her back to life despite his conflicting emotions. He wants to be tied to no woman, especially Charity. But nature has away of exacting what it wants.

As Aiden grudgingly takes Charity under his protection, the instinctual drive to mark and claim becomes more than he can bare. With Charity's body still recuperating, he tries desperately to abstain but the pain of the heat is beyond Charity's endurance and the two come together in fiery abandon.

I enjoyed 'Aiden's Charity' although it's not my favorite installment in the series. My real disappointment with the story was that IMHO, I thought Aiden and Charity really were only compatable by way of the mateing heat. They were so different and despite all of Charity's efforts to help the Breeds, she was still a scientist at heart. If the mating heat was not part of the equations, I think for this reason alone Aiden would never have given her second thought.

In addition, I thought that Aiden was verbally cruel to Charity. Yes I understand that she betrayed him six years ago, but the poor woman is in some incredable pain and the least he can do is tramp down his anger and be polite.

Of course the sex scenes were trademark Leigh and uber hot. Amazingly enough after reading these Ellora's Cave Presents Breed novels, I'm struck at how Leigh has maintained the raw sexuality in her Berkley Sensation Breed novels. The only difference I see is that the pain of the mating heat is bit toned down for Berkley while being ramped sky high for ECP.

In all honesty, my whole reason for reading this book was to read Leigh's introduction to Del-Rey, a Coyote Breed, and his mate Anya. These two will fighting for their HEA in 'Coyote's Mate' due out in February 2009. So far with glimpse of their situation in 'Aiden's Charity', I'm definitely looking forward to their story.

This book kept my interest all the way through as a continuing to the series. Not only is it hot and steamy in the Lora Leigh style but it had good plot excellent characters and made it easy to slip into the world of the breeds. I am looking forward to the next breeds. I have found her coyote breeds great and also Broken Wing the bird breeds. Hope everyone will find them as engrosing as I have.

Okay I just recieved this book today! Well you are probably guessing how far I have gotten haven't you? Well I lack about ten pages but man this book was so hot! within the first few pages you see a really hot scene with Adien and Charity and I mean hot! Okay basis of story: Aiden is a Wolf Breed who was tortured and experimented on while he was in a Lab. Charity our heroine is a Lab Tech at said Lab and does not want our hero to die so what is a girl to do to save a totally hot alpha wolf man...I would love to tell but you really should get this book! The sex was steaming! and with these two I actually felt that they where in love ya know? with some books you just don't feel that. Oh yeah one more thing this is an Ellora's Cave book so the sex is very explicit and I mean very. But if you love that like I do then this is the book for you, oh yeah considering that this is an Ellora's Cave book first off the sex scenes are very much one man one woman my favorite and only kind of scences.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of my favorites from the series...., January 13, 2009

This review is from: Aiden's Charity (Wolf Breeds, Book 3) (Paperback)
This book is Aiden and Charity's story and I must say my least favorite of all the breed books I've read. I had somehow missed this when reading the series so I ordered it posthaste since I enjoyed the rest of the series. Very disappointing read, it just didn't hold my attention and didn't seem as well written or engaging as all the other books. Aiden is a wolf breed who escaped the labs years ago, Charity was a lab tech he coveted while in captivity. He thinks she betrayed him all those years ago and has spent years hating her, waiting for his revenge. Charity was actually a plant within the labs helping to liberate the breeds and did what she had to do to keep Aiden alive all those years ago. It basically follows the same pattern as the rest of the breed installments but it lacks that spark the others have in abundance. I never connected with either lead character and the story kind of lagged for me. Normally when I get a breed book in my hands I'll fly through it in a day...this one I kept putting down to do other things so it took forever to read. This one will be going to the used book store for trade.

5.0 out of 5 stars Alden's Charity, April 5, 2008
This review is from: Aiden's Charity (Wolf Breeds, Book 3) (Paperback)
Lora really shows her best. The story is about Alden and his bend version of Charity assist in the lab. Her love made her save him so he could live until they were reserved. Alden has never forgiven her and there the story lies. Both intriguing and compelling with very strong sexual drive and romance. Charity is stronger than she looks and she has a will of her own. This make for a stimulating novel and with a very happy outlook. One of Lora Leigh best. Definitely on the must read list.

This review is from: Aiden's Charity (Wolf Breeds, Book 3) (Paperback)
This book follows the formula Ms. Leigh has been using for all the Breeds novels. The current breeds novels such as "Tanners Scheme" are further developed within story line and character development. I did enjoy Aiden's Charity however I prefer a story with the sex.

This story was just released in paperback and is just as exciting and erotic as Leigh's other breed stories. The character have substance and a good blend of good and bad traits. Aiden is a strong male who struggles to accept a strong female with delicious results. The story is fast paced, the sex scene well done. A great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites in the Breeds series - love the Winged Breeds!, September 13, 2010
I'm not sure why but I happen to love a story where the guy thinks the girl is bad, gives her a hard time, only to find out later that she was innocent. Chalk it up to my old Harlequin days I guess!

I liked Charity - and the emotional impact of this book was similar, for me, to Dawn's Awakening. Both have strong female leads that struggle with acceptance. In Charity's case it is acceptance of Aiden as mate - when he seems to hate her. He is definitely all alpha and, if you'll parden the pun, quite a dick at first. He does come around eventually - and I thought the sex scenes in this one were particulary well done - somehow they seemed to have a progression that made sense.

However, in spite of the fact I loved the story, I REALLY liked the introduction of Del Rey and the Winged Breeds even more. I thought Keegan was fascinating (and it will be a crime...you hear that Ms. Leigh..a CRIME..not to give them their own stories!) and the situation with Del Rey and the Coyotes fascinating. Up until now all the Coyotes were the bad guys so it's real intriguing that we've got one that's not quite black and white.

Overall another strong entry. Is it same o same o? Heck yeah. I myself am fine with it - certainly with the way you can get sucked into the storyline's of these books there isn't alot out there in this genre that can compete. The fact that I continue to devour what is at least the 10th actual book in the series says something - normally I fizzle out by now (case in point is Sookie's books, the Dark Hunter books, the Carpathian books, you get the pic!)
