Very pleased with fit and quality.

This POS was so badly machined, the locking plates that are supposed to fit INSIDE the receiver stuck out past OUTSIDE of the receiver by .125".

This item is that rare item, the bargain that was well worth the money spent.

First I'd like to note that I know how to install products like these. This particular product does not use the screws and screw plates as the rail system (others do). This is both a pro and a con. It has a full length rail on both sides that is part of the forged piece. The screws only put pressure on the sides to hold it in place. Now, even with the screws removed, I had to put a rag on the end and hammer it on. Grease didn't help, and it is going to be hell to remove if I ever need too. The screw plates on the inside are unidirectional BUT they recess further one way rather than the other. So check that BEFORE installing. If you don't, your slide will rub on them causing mis-feeds and scarring the slide.

Now the good stuff:
Because it is SO tight it will not move during recoil.
The piece is a very thick, high quality item. This thickness is the cause for the tightness on FAL rails. Compare to your thin tin dust cover and you will see.
The finish is durable as I started and removed the piece many times to ensure hammering will not damage the rifle.
The fit both front and rear are flush (unlike my stock cover). This is good as the rifle opens and closes easily for disassembly.
It is low profile to accommodate many scopes and if no scope is installed, You can still use the stock sights. This is important for tactile situations where iron sights need to be a backup.

All in all, I am pleased (after figuring out the above flaws). I would recommend it for the money, but I would buy the major competitors product (you know, the original 4 screw one) and pay the price. If you are not very careful and test test test the fitment and operation of the product on your rifle, you may damage it.

Hope this helps.

This is a great product. As usual with any aftermarket part there is a small ammount of smithing required for a good fit. So if anyone is handy with a dremel and patient, this is a great piece for a great price. Or you can pay 4 times as much for one that someone else did the fine tunig fitment on. The product was nice, required a little dremeling for fitment, held tight, put 50 rounds on point without loosing zero.

Quality seems good, but it gets 4 stars for photographic misrepresentation and incomplete item description. In the photo, we see 3 screws/side, but the actual part has only two per side. Incomplete description-this mount/cover WILL NOT fit a paratrooper (folding stock) model without EXTENSIVE modification AND custom parts fabrication. Specifically, to fit my DSA SA58 para carbine, I had to mill a considerable amount of material out of the inside to clear the bolt, and also had to manufacture a custom spring guide rod that fits into a slot I cut at the rear of the mount and is secured by two pins. In other words, without a mill, a welder, various other metal working tools and better-than-amateur machining and fabrication skills, you will not get this thing installed on a DSA paratrooper model, and probably not other paras. Even with the equipment and the skills, it took me nearly 3 hours.

That said, if you have a standard fixed stock FAL, I think this mount is a good value. As to people claiming they had to beat it on, either A) the quality of the piece has improved, B) their receivers are out of spec or C) they didn't loosen the securing screws before attempting to install. The piece slide snugly but smoothly onto my DSA type 1 receiver with little more effort than the stock sheet metal cover.

Very easy to install and true up. So far, no realignment of the scope has been needed, despite removing the mount several times. This product is a good resolution for a scope mount on a FAL.

This mount was a perfect fit on my L1A1. After reading other reviews, I fully expected to have to fit this to my rifle but it slid right on with no fitting required. The rail cut outs are a little shallow but my Burris PEPR seems to fit ok. If you plan on using this in conjunction with the Aim Sports Quad Rail Mount, just know that are not the same height, the scope mount sits a little lower. The picture shows a 3 screw mount but when mine arrived it was only a two screw, but it's still a solid fit.
