Product Description

The Aimshot Laser boresight is the most complete, accurate, easy and inexpensive way to accurately boresight your weapon. Just slide the aimshot laser boresight cartridge into the caliber-specific sleeve in your rifle chamber and a laser dot is projected down the exact centerline of your barrel. Cartridge sleeves are meticulously engineered with precision for a flawlessly centered dot every time. An invaluable tool for any gun enthusiast, this boresighting unit will save time and ammunition while allowing you to sight your weapon in areas where discharging a firearm may not be possible and takes up no more space in your pocket than a rifle cartridge. A durable nylon case is included with bore sights. It is specifically designed to hold your bore sight along with all the arbors you need. Arbors are sold separately.

As stated in another review this boresighter (ordered with optional arbors) was received with a mixture of AIMSHOT and OSPREY parts. The OSPREY parts are not compatible. The laser unit will not seat into the arbors and the arbors will not seat into the chamber of my firearms. If you email AIMSHOT you will learn more than you want to know about the business relationship between the two companies, but no additional help. I am very disappointed.
UPDATE:
I have been contacted by Aimshot and they have been very helpful in getting this problem resolved. I tried returning the bad Osprey arbors to the retailer and received replacements with the same problems as the origingals. When an arbor will not fit into the bore, it doesn't matter what laser insert you try to use. It will not work. In my experience, if you stay with genuine AIMSHOT sights and arbors, you will be pleased with this product. I give the AIMSHOT sight and arbor combination 4 Stars. They still need to update the product literature to remove the references to Osprey.

This is a great and very useful product - theoretically.

One problem - there are "Aimshot" Aimshot bore sighters, and "Osprey" Aimshot bore sighters. Needless to say, arbors marked "Aimshot" do not fit on "Osprey" boresight and vice versa. Despite the fact that Osprey is US distributor of Aimshot.

Another problem - at least some arbors DO NOT FIT THE BORES!

I've tried .45ACP arbor with a .45 handgun. No luck - the arbor gets stuck half-chambered. OK, tried .38/.357 arbor in a .357 Mag revolver. No luck - gets half-chambered in the cylinder.

I guess I don't need to say that both handguns were in use and demonstrated perfect ability to chamber their ammo properly.

So again - great concept, but unusable (at least for .357 Mag and .45ACP) execution. Oh and my rating was from the time before trying these two arbors - now I'd give it 1 out of 5.

After having read the review re the batteries that lasted three minutes, I decided to take a chance and order this boresight anyway!!! BAD MISTAKE...after having removed the boresight from the packaging (and trashing the packaging), I installed the batteries...and they worked when I screwed in the battery cap!!! BUT...later, when I attempted to boresight my new ROSSI/TAURUS CIRCUIT JUDGE, the batteries died within two minutes!!! SO...I had to purchase four new batteries (at a cost of $16.00) to finish boresighting the weapon...not fun to align a red dot sight with a red dot laser (which, incidentally, could only be accomplished in a darkened room as the laser is too dim to see outside (beyond 25 feet) on a very cloudy day)!!! IF...as I said above, I hadn't trashed the packaging (which had coffeee grounds thrown on top of it), I'd be returning this boresight in a heartbeat...it doesn't even have any way of turning it off short of completely unscrewing the battery cap!!!

I do not have a problem with the AimShot/ Osprey problem. I spoke with AimShot and they informed me that Osprey started selling their product in AimShot packaging and there's a lawsuit currently going on. But that's neither here nor there.

The problem is that the battery life on this sight is literally no longer than 5 min. I honestly couldn't believe it. I am currently in the process of purchasing new batteries in hopes that the problem was just the default batteries but if that is not the case, I strongly suggest a different product.

The previous comments regarding limited battery life are 100% correct. You get 3-4 minutes max and then the batteries are dead. I rushed thru the sighting in (I was just trying to get the gun on the paper when I go to the range) but just doing that, I barely made it before the unit went dark. It’s kinda ridiculous when you think about it. Not recommended.

I bought the Aimshot .30 carbine laser boresight as I already had the Aimshot .223 laser borsight and many arbors and had been very happy with their performance. The .30 carbine laser boresight has been a huge disappointment. The laser works intermittently and I am unable to use it to try to set the sights / scope. There is no rhyme or reason for when it works or it doesn't. Sometimes the cap needs to be screwed all the way in; sometimes partially screwed in; sometimes I have to bang it on the counter. I had been using everything (arbors and laser) from Aimshot, but I am going to have to re-evaluate that decision. I cannot comment on the battery problem as the laser has not stayed on long enough to compare to the other reviews. Be extremely cautious if you choose to purchase this item.

Did not fit in the Aimshot .45 Long Colt arbor I bought to go with it. Was too snug and I couldn't get it in far enough to fit in the cylinder of my revolver. That was only the start of the issue, however. The unit seems to be really shoddily made, and the twist-on switch stopped working reliably as soon as I inserted it into the arbor. If I fiddled with it for a long time I might get one brief burst of laser light, but the rest of the time it was either off or just glowing dimly. Once assembled I had no choice but to smack it with a hammer to get it seated the rest of the way into the arbor, and from there it was impossible to remove, and the switch gave out completely, so it was useless. It served me long enough to sight exactly 0 guns.
