The most heart-wrenching music and best voice ever!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ainda: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From The Film "Lisbon Story" (Audio CD)
This is the most emotional CD I have ever listend too. The divinely smooth voice awes me with beauty every time. The simple accompaniment lets the gorgeous voice go on musical journeys that you would never have imagined possible. It is relaxed but heart-wrenching and emotional. It is unmatched.

BEYOND THE CLOUDS....,
By
This review is from: Ainda: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From The Film "Lisbon Story" (Audio CD)
Ainda is surely the most eloquent Madredeus album so far...This is sheer perfection...The album has a unique atmosphere of sweet melancholy and a very rare emotional intensity due to the heavenly voice of Teresa Salguiero.Never can the voice of a woman carry more beauty, more refinement, more tenderness, more love than the voice of Teresa in this album. To describe it more properly I'll make a quotation from a Madredeus fan's opinion I've seen on the net about the scene of Lisbon Story where Teresa sings "Ainda":"Her voice is the purest form of beauty ever expressed by one person." Yes,indeed!

Lisbon Story,
By John A van Tiggelen (Townsville, Queensland Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ainda: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From The Film "Lisbon Story" (Audio CD)
Like with any Wim Wenders film, don't bother seeing it, just get the sound track. The man has a terrific ear for the kind of music that defines and sustains a mood, be it Nick Cave, Buena Vista Social Club or in this case, his most original choice yet, Madredeus.Ainda is this sublime band's most sublime album. Never has melancholy sounded this beautiful. When I first heard it on a lovelorn rainy day in Lisbon, I was so moved I decided that the girl I'd left behind was the girl I loved after all, and after leaving the record store I immediately booked a flight home. Idiot. Even now this CD can play tricks with my mind. Perhaps it should come with a warning sticker, something akin to "Don't mix with alcohol", because if you're not careful, you'll end up with the wrong girl, too.

I had forgotten how good this was,

I saw Lisbon Story for the first time about four years ago. I was telling my wife about how cool it was awhile back and decided to see if I could find the cd. Since it had been so long I forgot how utterly haunting this cd was until I purchaesed the cd. Even though I do not speak Portuguese, I think that Madredeus's music touches the inner essence of any music lover. You'll find yourself singing along even though you don't know the words.

You may keep Madonna, Britney Spears, Robbie Williams, the rap and the reggae, the punk and the gothic, but, please, leave Madredeus to me! They're - by far - one of the three best musical groups in the world. And the music they created for "Lisbon Story" (a minor, though interesting, film in Wim Wenders'filmography) is simply haunting. The music is so original, melancholic and beautifully arranged that you immediately will utter: "I had never heard such a different and suggestive melodies before". If you don't know "Madredeus" start with this one, probably their best. I have all their records, even the Live recitals, and I never get tired of listening to them. They are magic, poetry and pure beauty. Five stars only?

A beautiful portrait of Lisbon,
This review is from: Ainda: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack From The Film "Lisbon Story" (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite Madredeus albums. The songs in Ainda offer vivid descriptions of Lisbon, and somehow show the city in its spiritual dimension too. Teresa Salgueiro's voice is beautifully haunting and unique. The musical arrangements are splendid, perhaps because this album was recorded by the original members of the group, and they add that special touch Madredeus has been missing since they left the ensemble.

A very pleasant way to hear a certain kind of softly music, MADREDEUS, perhaps, it's an essamble wich makes the better sounds using only Chords & Vocals. It's sounds a kind of Melancholic, Sad, & Memorable, with a indescritible beauty. I think you will like to buy this surprisling CD, with lyrics in meloudiously Portuguese...

Another fabulous gem from Madredeus,

Unfortunately, the writer who wrote the summary of the album refers to the "veteran Portuguese composer" -- he doesn't know what he's talking about. Madredeus is a group, fronted by the exquisite, shimmering vocalist Teresa Salgueiro. AINDA proves again that Madredeus inhabits and creates music of glorious beauty. Wim Wenders has given us a great gift in this opportunity to become absorbed in the music of Madredeus.

A subtle and soul penetrating music,

Even if you have not seen Wim Wenders' movie, you will appreciate this CD. The atmosphere, acoustic and softness will gently place you at Lisbon, and you gonna feel as a portuguese that desperately miss your city, it's smell, sounds and firmament. Tereza's voice, the careful sounds of their instuments and the lyrics are a masterpiece of an extremely inspired and gifted group. |
