5.0 out of 5 stars Most important book on Harness racing, March 12, 2007
By
This review is from: Ainslie's New Complete Guide to Harness Racing (Paperback)
Though this guide was released in the late 1970's, I consider this to be the most important book written on Harness Racing. The book is well written and interesting, it is not an angles on gambling on races type of book. Instead it is an honest straight forward approach to attending Harness Racing and understanding the sport, its history and creating speed ratings from the racing program. Even regular attendees of the races can learn from this book, and enjoy the read as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars ainslie harness why did he bother, February 1, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you have lost more than 50 bucks at a harness track you probably won't learn that much here. Maybe worth it if you are a novice or can get it for real cheap. Overall handicapping books for both flats and trots are uninformative and boring. Poker "how to" books are much better. If you are new to Harness racing stick to the Meadowlands or stick to thoroughbreds. The reason being that harness fields are very closely matched and you have to stick to post position, driver, and betting angles like "late money".

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, November 13, 2009
This review is from: Ainslie's New Complete Guide to Harness Racing (Paperback)
Ainsle gives you a plethora of harness racing data and information in this legendary publication. Although seemingly outdated, there is still plenty of valuable harness racing history here for newcomers and oltimers as well. I first read this book in the 70's and most of the harness drivers mentioned are no longer with us. But, the techniques remain relavent and helpful in plotting your betting strategy. The book remains a must read for all harness fans.
