4.0 out of 5 stars Great Single, October 3, 2001

This review is from: Ain't It Funny (Audio CD)
One of the highlights of Lopez's current opus, presented here in it's original version and a few remixes. Among the remixes, the Almighty mix is the superior of the two(the other being from Steve'Silk'Hurley), an extremely solid club reworking that accelerates from the original track's midtempo feel. While on occasion it feels like a slight rip-off of Madonna's 'La Isla Bonita', repeated listens will likely remove that notion from the brain. Overall, not as good as the previous 'Play', but far better than the overbloated radio remix of current single 'I'm Real'.

This review is from: Ain't It Funny (Audio CD)
I have purchased both of the available CD singles for this song because it is my favorite on the J-Lo album. You can check my review on the other release for information on that one. Here's what you get on this version:
1) Ain't It Funny (4:05) - This is the album version, straight from J-Lo.
2) Silk's House Mix Pt. 1 & 2 (8:28) - This is identical to one of the remixes on the other release of this single.
3) Almighty Mix (7:22) - This remix of Ain't It Funny isn't available on the other release, but it is the best club-style remix of this song that I've heard. It keeps all the good stuff from the original, and extends it with an awesome club beat. It is a little bit faster than the original version.
4) Ain't It Funny (Video) - This video is what makes the CD single well worth the money. If you haven't seen the video, it's very well done, in black and white, with Jennifer looking her best. The video also adds a dance break to the song (like she did with the original "I'm Real" video) with some sexy, Latin style choreography. You can play the video in either the full-screen (actually about 3/4 screen) format, or in a reduced size (about 4" tall). The reduced size gives you full control of the video (pause, fast forward, etc.) while the full screen version just plays (your only control is to go back to the menu if you click on the screen).
As a bonus, you can click on "lyrics", which will show the complete lyrics to the song as it plays, highlighting each line as she sings it. You can also download the inside cover art as wallpaper. The photo is a really good shot of her. It is the same as the cover of the CD-single, but extended as a full body shot.

Summary: The other CD single of this song has two Spanish versions that I like very much. If you don't care about J-Lo's Spanish language music, then you want this version of the CD rather than the other. It is well worth the money with all the bonus material you get. If you like the original song and you enjoy J-Lo's Latin styles, then I suggest getting both.
