Not his best work,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ain't Going Out Like That (Audio CD)
I'm not someone who has disliked Young MC. In fact, I have always been a big fan, even in the post-Stone Cold Rhymin' years when everyone forgot who he was. So I'm not biased.Having said that, this is a pretty poor album. The lyrics and production are second-rate, generic, uncreative and repetitive. There's not much good that can be said about this album. For those looking to rediscover Young MC in his post-top 40 years, I would reccomend getting any of his other albums besides this one, particularly "What's The Flavor", which is a very good album.

Not His Best,

I agree that this in not Young's best work, but it's also not as bad as others have indicated. The first song, "What it Look Like" is a tight track all the way around. "OH!" is a fun track with a catchy chorus that you'll find yourself singing. Young MC is someone who doesn't get enough credit for his talent. However, if you're curious what he's been up to since "Bust a Move," I would recommend picking up "Brainstorm" or "What's the Flavor?" over this album.

Marvin Young saved my LIFE.,

These reviewers are drooling fools who i'm sure have been to several Creed concerts and watch american idol every week. Young MC is intelligent, positive and full-on funkadelic and deserves better than this uninspired hackery.
His early work shaped me as a man, kept me out of trouble and saved me from tragic mistakes in my 13 year-old, impressionable world. Even though at the time i never thought about the messages as i rocked out to the albums "Stone Cold Rhymin'" and "Brainstorming" -the messages seeped into my subconscious mind, listening on my walkman while i read, on road trips, in my room, sometimes when i fell asleep. songs like "know how" "keep your eyes on the prize" "inside my head" "think for a minute and use your head" "inside my head" "just say no" to name a few, helped provide a bass-bumpin' pathway for good decisions and successful thinking and i applaud him for it. i can't be the only kid that his message has helped, and this is my homage to his work...Thank You Young MC.

Well he should not be rapping because he seems like 10 years out of place. In 1989 his lyrics were Fresh but it is not 1989 it is 2000 and he seems out of place."What it Look like" is not that bad neithe is "Oh"."That's right" sounds like a good song from 1990 so does the next song.Well the album cover is pretty cool looking the next one he sounds like A Gangsta rapper from 1996 and the next one is party music that is out of place. The rap is good but with the music it is completely out of place and not irrelevent he sounds like somebody rapping in 2000 with no money about 1994."Aint goin out like this" is not to bad of a cut but his hit does not sound good on the Y2K version it is to fast. Well it is Fun and Funny but rap albums should not be funny this one is. It's not that it's bad it is horrible and it is 10 years to late. Just does not work well for 2000
Lyrics 6 Production 3 X Factor 0 Classic 1 Replay 4 Total= 3 out of 10 Fingers which is good for a baseball player This is the album for 30 year old guys who still where there football letterman jacket at there High School and go cruising and hit on chicks when everyone else calls you a looser for doing it.It is not High School get another job dude.

Never Rap Again...,

Rap music has seen a lot of good and bad mc's. Young MC lucked up over 10 years ago with the track "Bust a Move"..he got paid...OK..you can only win the lottery once in a lifetime. This album is garbage rap and that's why I'm the only person to review this CD. If you are reading this review Young MC I hope you understand that the rap game isn't for you..."Don't be Mad..UPS is hiring"..Biggie t-hanes |
