Perfect *Combination* Of Music And Vocals!,

This review is from: Highlights From The Pointer Sisters Ain't Misbehavin' - The New Cast Recording (1995 Broadway Revival) (Audio CD)
I found the Pointer Sisters' AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' CD at a used record shop a while back. I'm a big fan of the Pointers and was very delighted to come across this CD. It's the perfect union of Thomas "Fats" Waller's music with the Pointer Sisters fantastic singing and harmonizing style. This CD was recorded in 1995, when the Pointers were touring in a revival of "Ain't Misbehavin'" and June Pointer was still alive. At that time, I wasn't exposed to their earlier recordings that were made when they were a quartet with Bonnie (That's A-Plenty) and on Blue Thumb Records, so I had no idea that they were more than able to handle this type of material.
Even though it's only a "highlight" CD, AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' contains some of the best known musical numbers from the original like the title song "Ain't Misbehavin'," "The Joint Is Jumpin'," "Keepin' Out Of Mischief Now," and "Mean To Me." The musical numbers are a fun combination of rollicking numbers and incidental dialogue that will have you singing along and tapping your feet. Eugene Barry-Hill and Michael-Leon Wooley join Ruth, June and Anita Pointer, rounding out the excellent cast and each of the sisters gets her turn at a solo. Never having heard or seen the original, except for a clip of Nell Carter doing "Mean To Me" on some TV show, I don't know how this revival compares. I just ordered the original CD, btw, but I find this one quite enjoyable. Anyway, this CD is a must for any Pointer Sister fan or fan of Broadway musicals. It comes with color gate fold cover with song credits, some color photos, and liner notes by director and choreographer Arthur Faria. Love this CD! I wish I had seen the actual stage production because listening to the CD, it sounded like such a fun show. And again the Pointer Sisters were dynamic in it!

Ain't Misbehavin CD,

The CD itself is great. I love the music and one of my friends, Eugene Barry Hill is one of the featured performers. A previous copy of this CD was recently stolen from my home. The only problem was (is) that the plastic CD case was cracked and broken upon arrival. This doesn't effect the enjoyment of the CD, just my ability to store it.
