It "Ain't" as Good as Some of His Other Books but is Still an Interesting Read!, December 27, 2009
This review is from: It Ain't Necessarily So... Bro (Paperback)
This book isn't as good as other books by Dr Karl such as Q & A with Dr K or Great Mythconceptions. However it still does dismiss a lot of old wives tales and myths, makes you think about a few things and definitely educates the reader.
In It Ain't Necessarily So Bro, Dr Karl explores how old the planet earth is, dispels the myths of comas readily used in movies and television especially soap operas. The myth that muscles turn to fat or that you can target a particular area of your body to reduce fat are also debunked. The myth that fish do not feel pain is exposed as the ludicrous claim it is. Cockroaches surviving nuclear holocaust, daddy longlegs firstly being spiders, being the most venomous just with too short fangs to penetrate the skin and other myths are all proven wrong. Are pasta and noodles the same? Dr Karl gives the answer. Water recycling and how all water is recycled so there's no point in raising hysteria when your local council wants to try it. The topics of fingerprints; are they really unique, do twins have the same prints and do police get it wrong are all really well explained. Did pirates ever make people walk the plank? Are four leaf clovers lucky and even are they rare? Myths about gladiators, cats seeing in the dark, microwave ovens and many more topics are covered within these pages.
