COULDNT BE BETTER?,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ain't No Other (Audio CD)
Aint No Other is a composition of material which is solely hardcore. That hardcore part of Lyte is definitely worth buying. She's the BEST female & definitely one of the greatest MCs. Ruffneck, I Go On and others really enrich the album. She is definitely the true of definitely of what rap is all about. Do your thing GIRL.

This MC Lyte album will continue to be popular many years from now as it stands out in wave of inspired early 90s rap. The jazz samples give it a timeless, historical, NY feel. Hard hittin' deep, belt-it-out style is something most female rappers aren't even capable of: MC Lyte is a phenomenon. The raps are printed inside - validate and affirm females - positive hard work, sexuality, not takin' sh**, and breaking out of destructive relationships. Tru: Ain't No Other like the Lyte.

This is one of MC Lyte best album ever. Dissing Roxanne Shante talking about Ruffnecks, Go On & On. Theres no question why she has the title as "The First Lady Of Rap".

Mc Lyte takes on a more gangsta approach which is evidenced in her first single Ruffneck. Make no mistake about it, she still shows off her MC side on tracks like Brooklyn, What's My Name Yo, Aint No Other, Let Me Adem, Can I Get Some Dap etc. I liked her second single, I Go On even though its a different side of her. She rips Roxanne Shante' a new one on the Krs-One assisted Steady F******. MC Lyte and friends show off their skills on Who's House. Skip Material: Hard Copy is unoriginal and weak. F*** That Mother******* Bull**** has the dumbest hook of all time and One Nine Nine Three falls on deaf ears for this reviewer. other than that this album is damn good. I also enjoyed the remake for I Cram To Understand U(one of my old school favorites). Bottom Line: Aint No Other is one of the highlights of 1993 and is the last good album this great female Mc was able to give us(Im sorry but I dont feel the last three albums that came afterwards). They dont make female MCs like her anymore. Standout Tracks: BROOKLYN, RUFFNECK, WHAT'S MY NAME YO, AINT NO OTHER, I GO ON, NEVER HEARD NOTHIN LIKE THIS, CAN I GET SOME DAP, LET ME ADEM, STEADY F****** and I CRAM TO UNDERSTAND U(1990).
