As the closest thing to a sonic hell in Rounder's R&B catalog, this indifferently recorded 1978 show in Houston clamors out of home speaker cabinets like an unruly and unwanted guest. Johnny Copeland was one the best blues guitar players who even a lot of blues lovers didn't know much, if anything about. Like most blues greats, he was at his best on stage. This is an excellent example of his fine guitar work, not to mention his unique vocal style. About the only thing wrong with this disc is it's length, a little under 40 minutes, probably because it was issued on vinyl first. I didn't let that stop me from purchasing it, and you shouldn't either. Johnny was equally adept at bluesy ballads (Baby Please Don't Go) as he was at up tempo jams (title track). An excellent addition to any blues lovers collection.

Hard to belive my very dear old friend isn't still on this earth... This recording makes it seem as if we could still watch for the mighty Texas Tornado to blow through town on tour!
