4.0 out of 5 stars it's so much better than you think...
i bought this as at college i had become very used to using a tablet, but the wacom tabs we used were way out of my price range.

i didnt expect too much, as this was so much cheaper. but i have found this to be a really excellent tool. i have found the pressure sensativty to be very highly attuned to whatever im working with, there is no lag between what i do...

3.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive tablet pen, TONS of Campatibility issues!
I bought this item 1 week ago. It's not as expensive as wacom and it's featureFirst thing I found is - the driver (latest from the website) does not pass windows xp test. Ok, continue anyway and it works ok. However, I cannot use pressure sensitive feature on Flash and Illustrator. The only thing that works is photoshop.... you can search this model review on the internet...

i bought this as at college i had become very used to using a tablet, but the wacom tabs we used were way out of my price range.

i didnt expect too much, as this was so much cheaper. but i have found this to be a really excellent tool. i have found the pressure sensativty to be very highly attuned to whatever im working with, there is no lag between what i do and what is happening on screen and the pen is wireless, not so with all entry level tablets.

i did have the problem others mention of the cursor 'jumping' but as im not stupid, i put a new battery in. of course it started to work perfectly straight away.

what i hadnt expected was that i would prefer this tablet to the wacoms i had used. i really do. it seems to be both more responsive to pressure and to 'react' better. so im well pleased.

i suppose some of this might be that i have taken the time to set everything up right, or maybe it is just that i only use this with photoshop. i have tried it a little with illistrator, which i rarely have to use, and it seems fine. i just binned the bundled software, like you always do. i guess this is a moot point, not just with aiptek, bundled software is always outmoded, low on features, replicating apps you already have, or just plain useless. this goes for, looking around my computer, fuji, epson, plustek, lexmark, sony, logitek (i mean...mouse drivers, frick) and yeah, aiptek. but it's one thing with a £40.00 tablet, another with a £500.00 digital camera. so i guess if you buying this for the bundled software, your a shmoe, other than that...it's just fine...

Quite often I find myself writing technical papers requiring diagrams. Normally I use Visio as my drawing tool. However Visio can be slow and it would be nice if I could use something for quick sketches enabling me to efficiently put a paper together for proof reading. Usually, when I need to produce a rough draft I will scan hand drawn sketches into my Word document. This method works well, but requires me to stay at home where my scanner is. The HyperPen 6000U seemed rather neat because it is something I could carry along with my laptop allowing me to work away from home.

However, I find that the HyperPen's cursor jumps around too much. The cursor will suddenly jump very far away from the drawing that I'll be working on. Since the HyperPen's cursor is the same as the mouse cursor used by the computer icons can be clicked and opened using the HyperPen. And, while I'm drawing I could accidentally open other programs or documents without warning. This is very distracting and doesn't meet my primary objective of drawing fast, accurate sketches without interruption. Also, the software that comes with the HyperPen isn't refined enough to facilitate the type of sketches that I'd like to produce. In general, the 'feel' of the pen and pad just doesn't measure up to using the real thing, pen and paper. The HyperPen doesn't feel natural and sometimes the computer is too slow to keep up with my pen strokes.

I'm sure this product has other uses that I haven't exploited, but for my needs it isn't suffice and I plan to return it. Perhaps a portable scanner will work better for me.
