3.0 out of 5 stars Good for capturing the moment, February 6, 2004

This review is from: Pocket Cam Classic (Electronics)
I like this camera because it is small and easy to carry. I can drop it in a shirt or pants pocket and not even notice it's there. It lets me capture shots that I would have otherwise missed because I wasn't carrying around a camera. It turns on quickly, takes 25 pictures in high res mode (640X480) or 99 in low res mode (320x240). The quality of the pictures is good enough for email or web posting. You can also shoot pictures in continuous mode and later connect them together with software to make an AVI video.

The camera does have drawbacks though. First of all the pictures are not very detailed since the highest resolution is 640x480 (0.3 megapixels). There is no LCD screen, so you can't preview your shots. (The viewfinder does a fair job of framing your shot.) It doesn't take very good pictures in low light and it won't let you take a picture at all if the light level is too low. It also doesn't deal with point light sources such as lamps or windows very well. In these situations, part of the picture is often whited out.

Finally, all of your pictures will be lost if the batteries (2 AAA) run out or if they are removed from the camera. The camera drains the batteries whenever they in place, so you should remove them if you're not going to use the camera for a while.

I don't recommend using this camera as your primary camera. I would use it as a backup that you can take anywhere to capture those "I wish I had a camera!" moments.
