The name of his band was Western Caravan not Texas Caravan. Also,he died from kidney failure after having surgery for bladder cancer not lung cancer. The other reviewer was right,he did get a gold record for "Smoke,Smoke,Smoke" which was also Capitol Records first million seller.

As the nephew of the late Tex Williams, it was great to find his music in C.D. His daughter Sandi and I wish to thank you for this and hope in the future you will have more great old time stars of screen and music on your site. Thank you, Jeffrey C.

Great West Coast Swing Music!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: On the Air (1947-1949) (Audio CD)
For those who don't know, Tex Williams received a gold record for his version of Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! He also helped to write it. Another little known fact is that Glenn Campbell played in his band before he had a music career of his own!
