5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable! December 3, 2002
Format:VHS Tape|Verified Purchase
This movie is a wonderful addition to our family viewing library. It is an absolutely clean, safe, and totally enjoyable movie for the entire family, even the youngest members. My grandchildren and my husband and I have had a blast watching it together and the kids ask to see it over and over again. I highly recommend this as a fine family movie!

5.0 out of 5 stars GRAND, FUNNY MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! June 24, 2005
Format:VHS Tape
This movie is a VERY good movie!!!!

I LOVE how this dog can play Basketball! It start's when a young boy named Josh and his mom and sister move to a town. Josh's dad died and Josh has been sad after. At the same time a Golden Retriever breaks free from a man who beats the dog. When the dog finds Josh the dog brings happieness back to Josh. Josh names the dog Buddy and keeps him as a friend. When Buddy soon shows Josh that he is a GREAT basketball player Josh soon enters Buddy and himself into the team. When Buddy's owner finds out what Buddy can do the man trys to get the dog back! Watch as a Golden Retriever plays Basketball and as Josh will stop at nothing to save the dog from more abuse.

Do buy Air Bud!

The acting is GREAT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Air Bud The Review July 1, 2005
The Movie that started an empire of B movies. See this movie, and you have seen all the air bud movies. But hey, its a golden retriever that can play basket ball... soccer.. football... brain surgery. These are fun and light hearted and worth it all. Mutt dog befriends moppy kid and show kid the light. If any thing, the brooding of the kids in these series gets tedious, but otherwise, its worth the price of admission.

A fantastic family film that won hearts in 1997 makes its return to DVD nearly 12 years later for a special edition release.

The film was a tremendous success in the box office which cost $3 million to make and made $24 million and instantly became a hit with canine fans everywhere and help spawn four more additional Air-bud films and three "Buddies" films (five puppies considered to be the offspring of Air Bud).

With the release of "Space Buddies" in 2009, what best reacquaint movie viewers with the film that help start it all.

For a 1997 film, the picture quality is pretty good. I don't recall seeing any aging, excessive grain or any video fragmenting. Overall, for a film that is 12-years-old, picture quality still remains pretty good.

As for audio, audio is presented in Dolby Digital and the film is strictly a dialogue-based film and music. So, this is not a film to expect your side or rear channels being used but overall, dialogue and music is clear.

The main special feature is a "Dog-U-Commentary With the Buddies" featuring the puppies in the recent Buddies films featuring Bud-dha B-Dawg, Mudbud, Budderball and Rosebud.

Also, the DVD comes in a cardboard case that holds a metal necklace/dog tag that has "Buddy" imprinted on it.

Personally, I think the release of "AIR BUD" on DVD is great timing.

With the release of "Space Buddies" and the movie's references to their father aka "Buddy", it's a heartwarming and enjoyable family film for the children. Of course, unlike the buddies which uses current technology and features the puppies talking, "AIR BUD" does not feature a dog that talks.
