Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The award winning Air Burst Rockets System incorporates an entirely new propulsion technology, utilizing air to create a shock wave and venturi effect that launches its rockets higher and faster than any non-combustion rockets on Earth! Through the bursting of membrane boosters within the launcher, Air Burst generates astounding power that sends its rockets to amazing heights. With a few s from a stand-up bicycle , its rockets can be easily and repeatedly launched. And the system is completely safe -- no combustible or expensive rocket engines used! With five different altitude levels to choose from, you can launch Air Burst rockets to varying heights reaching up to 1,000 feet and even beyond visual range. Be prepared for a truly amazing model rocketry experience! Each set includes launcher, two different rockets with contrail streamers for enhanced visibility, and 60 membrane boosters. Bicyclesold separately below. (The system operates with any common stand-up bicycle) Also sold separately are additional rockets and booster membranes. Recommended for ages 10 and up. Adult supervision suggested.

Product Description

The Air Burst(tm) Rocket system has a 26" tall, air-powered tri-pod launcher made of plastic and rigid foam. A 65" long air hose connects it to any stand-up bike pump. After a few pumps, the air pressure bursts a replaceable booster disc in the launcher and sends a 10" x 3/4" dia rocket 250 to 1000 feet into the air. Wow! The system includes the launcher, (2) rockets, and (60) boosters (two different weights). Sending rockets out of sight, even if they usually come straight back down, is an ingenuous ploy for selling extra rockets. Our each is a pack of (2). And having extra rockets is an ingenuous ploy for selling extra booster discs. Our each is another bag of (60). No bicycle pump? The 18" black Tech Team pump blew majestically through a "double bozon" booster for us! It creates up to 120 lbs of pressure while most pumps will only generate 80 psi. It fits a Schrader (American) valve. Warning: The Air Burst(tm) Rocket is for ages 10 and up, with adult supervision. Seems fairly sturdy, made of hard plastic on the vertical pieces and flexible foam cross members.

It works by charging up an air cylinder with a bicycle pump. You need a good quality pump to get the maximum pressure launch. There are small vinyl disks (red = 60psi, white = 30psi) which burst at a specified pressure which are at the top of the cylender. You can stack them, up to the limit of 160psi. I found 2 reds burst around 120-140 on my pump. To get the maximum altitude hard/fast strokes to have the disc burst when you are pushing hard, gives the rocket extra kick. When the disc bursts, all the air shoots the rocket off.

My 50lb son could launch up to 1 red + 1 white which went up 150ft. I had no problem getting 2 reds which gets to about 300-400ft (the limit of my vision).

The rocket simply arcs over and comes screaming down and impacts on the foam nose, bouncing about 20-25 feet on impact. Keep a strong lookout on high launches to make sure it doesn't come down on you. We never had one come too close (typically 30-40 feet away). I would not recommend launching in high-wind, as this thing would go a long way...

If the rocket doesn't launch DO NOT approach it unless you disconnect the pump. We had several launch when nobody was pumping (just pausing, we didn't approach) which could certainly take an eye out.

If you are stacking discs, the 60 run out fairly quickly (although 30 shots in one setting can get tiring). A spare rocket comes in the box (if there are trees nearby this could be useful). The discs are fairly cheap.

My 7 year old son and I use this and have an absolute blast! I found that connecting it to an air compressor is best. This way, you simply press a button to launch it and can relaunch in seconds. We've gotten flights of about 500' or so. Also, though probably not recommended, we cut out the same size discs from an old swimming pool toy (inflatable alligator) and found that they work great! Free fuel discs, hahaha. Anyway, we've had this now for a couple of years and love it.

I really did not know what to expect when I bought this rocket but it turned out to be a fun toy. I'm a teacher and I bought this for my 3rd grade class as a science project (learning about air pressure). The Air Burst Powered Stomp Rocket uses really simple but advanced technology as far as toy's go. What's great is that you can control how high the rocket will go before launching by adding the amount of "air rings". The "air rings" are what stops the air as it is pumped through the tube. The more air rings you put the more pressure is built and the higher the rocket will go. You have to provide your own air pump to use this product. A simple bicycle pump will do. The rocket shoots off in a hurry and is capable of reaching 1000 feet, really! It really is a fun toy suitable for children 8 and up in my opinion. The Air Burst comes with 2 rockets, no air pump, and about 50 air rings. The air rings are needed for launch and after you use one it is no longer reusable. A hole is punctured through the air ring and a new one is needed. I bought a refill package of air rings just in case I ran out. Overall, a very cool toy that does require adult supervision.

First off, altitudes range from 150 to 300 feet, not 1000 feet. You'd better be one big dude, to pump a tire pump hard enough to launch it any higher. Rockets are somewhat sturdier and a few inches longer than the Mighty Missiles, this company also makes. You use plastic disks, that burst at different pressures, to launch the rockets skyward. Sixty disks are included, more than enough to get burned out.

I bought one of these because my "almost 4" year old daughter likes stars, the moon, space and so forth. And daddy likes rockets. We finally had a warm day with light wind and gave it a try. Man did my wife, daughter and I have a blast!!! We launched it over and over and I was shocked at how fast it traveled and how high it went when using the red seals. The rocket has a nice tip that causes it to bounce about 20 feet in the air after it first lands. This is a product that exceeds our expectations. The launcher itself is sturdy, the replacement seals are cheap and it comes with two rockets. Replacement rockets are also available.

The piping on the bottom connecting to the device had an airleak in it, never got to use the thing!

I have to say - this rocket is a blast! I hooked it up to an electric air pump so I wouldn't have to manually pump it - just turn it on and wait a few seconds (about 12). Worked like a champ and went super high! I went a little overboard and put 2 red membranes in at once - not a good plan - the top of the rocket cracked open after a couple of these launches (though it did go so high I lost sight of it). Stick with 1 red membrane and you will enjoy this rocket for many flights.

This rocket is a blast the kids love it and the adults are impressed how high they go. I was disapointed in the rockets, I was glad I didn't buy extra vinal patches because both of the rockets foam tips broke after about 10 to 15 launches. It was great fun while it lasted.
