Product Description

Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers is a unique flight simulation with strategy elements and a compelling storyline. As Lucas Stark, Admiral in the US NAVY in charge of the USS Enterprise (CV 6), you control aircraft missions that take place over the Pacific Ocean during WWII. On the other hand, should you choose the side of the Japanese, you will embody Hideaki Hashimoto and take charge of the carrier known as Zuikaku, representing the Imperial Japanese Navy in a fight till the death. Much more than your average flight simulation, Air Conflicts: Pacific Carriers combines true events with arcade gameplay that allows you to take control of entire squadrons. It puts you in charge of not just one airplane but every aircraft and weapon on your team. Protect your carrier by taking control of the ship's cannon turrets in Survival Mode.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great WWII Simulation game August 10, 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a great simulation game based during WWII in the pacific as noted by another review, you play the US Navy and the Japan Navy. The graphics of the game is quite good and is an improvement from Air Conflicts: Secret Wars - PlayStation 3. If you've played "Legends of War: Patton" this might be a little similar due to the campaign having some similarities; for example, you can manage your pilots, change different weapons on planes and have camouflage on the planes. The length of the campaign seemed a little long, but I think it depends on which decisions you choose. All of the battles take place at historic moments in WWII from Iwo Jima, Pearl Harbor, ocean battles, etc. As for the multiplayer there is hardly anyone online right now, but hopefully since this was just released in US there will be more players and this will be a great game. Overall this is a great game and is a great game for less than $20.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good price for PS3 game August 8, 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My first thought was, "how can I say no to a $19.99 PS3 title?" Got it and it's well worth the 20 bucks. It's mainly based around the events of Pearl Harbor during WWII and you can play as either the Americans defending or the Japanese attacking. I like that the game is mainly aerial sim but also allow you to use the guns on the carrier ships. Graphics are decent and it was pretty fun to play. $20 well spent if you ask me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Game December 29, 2013

Considering the poor quality of most games in this genre, my husband and I weren't particularly hopeful when we bought this game. But since he is a big fan of Naval ships and planes, we decided to get it, anyway.

We were definitely pleasantly surprised! The controls are much easier to use than most games in the genre. The graphics are pretty good, but could be improved. There were a few minor bugs in the game, but nothing game-breaking so far.

Comparing this to games in general, it would be a 3.5-4 star game. However, comparing it only to other games within this genre, it blows them all away so much that I can easily give it 5 stars!

We definitely like it enough to pick up Air Conflicts: Vietnam next.

I am a fan of flight sim games, and have been disappointed by most for the PS3 console.

This game is decent in terms of storyline and graphics, and I like how the airplanes are accurately represented in their flight characteristics and armament. However, I am wondering whether the developers actually looked at period photos of the ships they modeled. USS Enterprise (along with almost all US Navy carriers) have their superstructure on the starboard side of the ship. In the game, it's on the port side! It's a small detail and doesn't detract from the overall game, but it's a bit annoying. Also, during the mission briefings, there is text at the bottom of the screen, but it only reads half of what the Captain is saying. So, if you're playing as the Japanese, you have to switch the setting to the English voices otherwise you won't be able to read the whole briefing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed September 7, 2013
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
This game could have been so good . The graphic are good the concept is great the only thing that it lacks are the controls. The planes are to hard to handle in simulation flight and the arcade mode takes you out of feeling like you are flying the plane. you should be able to customize the control just once can developer make a airplane game right?

5.0 out of 5 stars Playstation 3 version better then PC version! November 5, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 3|Verified Purchase
I bought this game because of the price (which, needless to say, was very good). If it was not any good and/or fun, no harm no foul. I was very surprised when I put the game in my PS3 to discover that this was the same game that I bought for my PC about two years ago. I forgot that I had this game for the PC because you HAVE to have a joystick to play the game. Using the keyboard was impossible to play. I gave up the search for a joystick under $50 a long time ago. I played the PC version at a friends house using a joystick. I loved the game! I am very happy that I have the PS3 version of a very playable air fighter game. Great graphics, sound, many missions, and you can play the campaign as US or Japanese. Very pleased with this game.
