Great little time killer, nice graphics, and the best of all...cheap!,

I'm not a major gamer, but I do enjoy playing the occassional war/flight simulator game on my laptop. This one did not disappoint. No problems installing on my Vista Dual Core with 1 GB Ram and basic Dell laptop video card, which is way more computer than the "recommend system requirements" on the box. For the price, I didn't expect too much. This game will surprise you with what you get for your investment, though. Several aircraft, easy control with mouse and keyboard (although you can also use joysticks, etc.) Music's very corny, but you can turn it off. Recommend that you have a nicer video card than the "standard" system graphics card as the scenery may be a bit choppy otherwise. Overall, great value. Several levels of difficulty. Easy to learn, but not easy to master (which means you won't be done with it the same day you buy it). The more missions you fly, the harder and more interesting they get. Fun game. Beats the heck out of my other "time killer" games on the PC platform.

If you want a simple game to unload commuting stress with, this will satisfy you. Decidedly an arcade-style game. I've employed the use of the Saitek ST290 joystick with it as key pad control of an air battle game doesn't appeal to me. Its nice that it offers levels of play so you can hone skills from novice to expert. Being an aviation individual, I cannot get my head around how to successfully fly without an altimeter! Particularly on bombing missions. Overall, its a great bargain and intense shoot-down fun for up to 2hrs. But I'm not one to spend all day with a game anyway.

Now that's the way I remember it!,

More years ago then I'd like to admit, I had a hell of a good time playing a Lucas Arts game call "Battle of Britain" I've played many flight sims since and while the games have gotten to be better and better aircraft simulators I generally have enjoyed them less and less to the point where I'd pretty much decided I didn't care for them anymore.
Till today - I saw this game in a bargain bin and thought, what the heck it looks fun and it's cheap enough. I'm glad I did, Air Conflicts is the most fun I've had with a flight sim since Battle of Britain (Which I tried again recently, to my horror I found it had aged badly - it was nothing like the awesome game I remembered) No learning curve here, just jump in and have at it! Joysticks are totally not needed as it has excellent mouse control. The missions get progressively harder starting with training and working up to some insanely enjoyable hairballs. If you have to have total realism - then take a pass. This is no IL2 (Thank god - I own it already!) On the other hand if you want to take a break from all that and just blow stuff up in a game that keeps you coming back for `just one more mission...' then look no further.
